new phone

Just bought a new phone today as l needed a new one and wanted one with a better camera than my old one (one, one one). This one (an LG) is still cheap but has a 5mp camera on it. Good stuff, unless l start spending serious money. Now all l have to do is work out how to use it.

birthday meal out on tuesday

It was the FPO's birthday on Tuesday, so we met up with the rest of the family for a meal at Akebar (http://www.akebarpark.com/), then onto Brymor Ice cream factory (http://www.abmoore.co.uk/) . We then went to White shops to post some stuff and have a couple of ales (and a few shots) before heading home for an early night. Being off work is great!

the volcanoes in iceland

There was disruption to aeroplane flights last week with the eruption in Iceland of the Grímsvötn volcano, which l was cursing, as our buddies Robbo and Kerry were out in Spain with the I'Anson clan, and l thought they might get stuck out there. This affected me two ways. One, l wanted then back as l was going to their house to watch the Manchester United v Barcelona final. Two, l would have been sick with jealousy if they had a longer holiday and missed work. Anyway, it all worked out in the end (apart from the football result). Above is some pictures of the volcanoes in Iceland. Nice to look at, but l wouldn't want one at the end of my garden.

introducing mr don king

As l am still cheerful about the blogs being restored, l thought l would post a happy picture. This is me and Don King in San Antonio, Texas a few years ago. I don't usually put up many pictures of myself unless they are old ones, but l will make an exception for this little beauty.

everything seems ok again so l'll have some soup to celebrate

Then again....maybe not, it looks a bit dodgy.

Wow! I think l can access the blog again!

It's been off for the last week as Google were having problems, but hopefully it is all tickety-boo again. Oh how l have missed it!

These are of the underground in Sweden. Slightly better than London or Newcastle (the ones l am used to), that's for sure.

I have seen this sort of stuff done in the past, but these versions are pretty damn good. A simple idea, yet very effective.

Everything Is A Remix: KILL BILL from robgwilson.com on Vimeo.

This guy ( robgwilson.com ) has gone to a lot of trouble putting this together. Worth it though (and glad it was not me doing it). Just check out all the references/steals from other films.

another fine weekend - debs do and united are champions

Had a marvellous old time at the weekend. Been in for most of it, but went round to Deb and Rooks for Debbie's birthday do, as they had a BBQ (surprise). All went well until Deb fell and banged herself against the chimera (guilty party above), which resulted in a short trip to the hospital for some glue to a small cut. The FPO and Rook went with her, so l hung around a bit more, then buggered off home when l got the chance to sneak off.
On the Sunday, it was 'Premiership Survival Sunday' according to Sky, but l was just interested in The Manchester United against Blackburn game (4-2 win). This meant Blackpool went down, which is a bit of a shame, but United kept up their great home record this season (15 successive wins). It was great to see Evra with the Cantona flag, stuff like that keeps the history of the club alive.
All this and the new series of Family Guy - get in!
Now if we can just beat Barcelona nthis weekend.....

benzadrine inhalers

I used an inhaler yesterday as there was a lot of rabbit hairs about and it aggravated my asthma. Sadly, it was not one of these bad boys. They certainly had some forms of medicine that were better in the old days. Bring 'em back l say!

cherie currie from the runaways

I remember when l was a young whipper-snapper (those were the days my friend) and went hitch-hiking around Scotland with a friend called Gary Waitland , heading to Loch Ness to look for the monster (no joy). On the way back, we stopped off in Edinburgh, where l bought some records, including The Runaways album, which had just come out. It was not very good, and l ended up selling it to my brother, but since l have now got his old records, it has returned to me.
The reason l am waffling away about this is because of what Cherie Currie (the singer) is doing now. She has re-imagined herself as a chainsaw artist, and apparently is having success with the outrageous change of direction. Now that is something l would never have imagined her (or most people) doing. They even look pretty good - respect.

The best Ryan Giggs joke l have heard so far

Just heard former Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas has got a secret singing career.

Apparently she's been doing gigs in Manchester for ages.

the sunday herald front page

It is a farce that super injunctions are taken out by celebrities when they have been 'misbehaving' and have been caught out. Sadly, as l am a Manchester United fan, it pains me to see the front page of the Sunday Herald today, as they have not exactly gone out of their way to disguise the footballer involved. Brave of them to do so and l hope they don't get punished too much in the courts for daring to print the picture. The law - it's an ass sometimes (or as Ian Hislop once said, after another Private Eye trial, "If that's justice, l'm a banana").
