salvaged press packs

These are about the only salvageable press packs from a box of mine that got waterlogged in the garage. Much as l am pissed off about the damage, most other boxes of stuff are pretty much unmarked, and a real treasure trove (to me at least).
These remind me of what a piss poor and amateurish operation press releases were in those days. Badly photocopied reviews with a minimal back story was the norm, and no-one thought it was unusual.  Now you would be laughed out of town producing something like these in this fantastically futuristic and computerised space age.

this weeks nme stone roses cover

Nothing to say really, apart from l really like this weeks old school  NME Stone Roses cover, advertising their gigs at Heaton Park this weekend. It's raining now, and it's set to continue (bloody British summers)  so pack your wellies.

the sunday herald front page

It is a farce that super injunctions are taken out by celebrities when they have been 'misbehaving' and have been caught out. Sadly, as l am a Manchester United fan, it pains me to see the front page of the Sunday Herald today, as they have not exactly gone out of their way to disguise the footballer involved. Brave of them to do so and l hope they don't get punished too much in the courts for daring to print the picture. The law - it's an ass sometimes (or as Ian Hislop once said, after another Private Eye trial, "If that's justice, l'm a banana").

melody maker and mr agreeable

I used to love Melody Maker in the 1990's, and especially Mr Agreeable. Even better was the 'At home with Liam and Patsy' part, with the great photo of Patsy Kensit carrying the shopping bags like she is a scumbag from a council estate, rather than a 'movie' star. Pure class and really funny just about every week. This page is from 1996.

paper bill

This is how often I pay my paper bill. It is for the last three months worth of papers, which is about normal, as I only pop in to pay the bill about four times a year. It is only for the Observer on Sundays and United we Stand (a Manchester United fanzine) each month. The bill soon seems to mount up though, it's lucky the people at the shop know me and we have this understanding, I even give them a Christmas card each year (not with any money in it though).
