camille seaman storm photos

Camille Seaman has been taking photographs of storms in the USA, and they make the weather here in the UK look pathetic (but still miserable). More of these photographs, plus her series of iceberg ones, are on her site here.

the sun is back out!

Hurrah! The sun made a welcome re-appearance this afternoon, so let's hope it decides to hang around a bit all weekend, as, apart from a meeting in Gateshead tomorrow morning, l am now off work until Tuesday afternoon.
Hurrah again!!

bloody english summers

The view out of my back window at this afternoon, in the middle of what us English laughingly call a 'summer'.
Still,  l've got work at 3pm - life couldn't be any sweeter.

this weeks nme stone roses cover

Nothing to say really, apart from l really like this weeks old school  NME Stone Roses cover, advertising their gigs at Heaton Park this weekend. It's raining now, and it's set to continue (bloody British summers)  so pack your wellies.

back from corfu

It's a hard life and all of that, but l am now back from the work trip to Corfu, where it was blazing sunshine every day, and l got to do a lot of reading (and some work).
I also managed to catch the football and get a great tan, but l got bitten by mosquitos (which was not so good) as there were swarms of them on a couple of nights (the little spitty blood sucking bastards).
Pretty pleased it has been pissing down in England while l have been away, as l don't want other people enjoying themselves, but it could do with stopping now that l am back. The bloody grass in the garden will be 10 feet tall soon.

the sky at night

Two shots of the night sky from outside work. The colours have not been altered in any way, the second picture was just a slightly later time.
You'd think l had nothing better to do, and no work to be getting on with.

the spooky white shops

These photos are of the White Shops in Catterick. They looked good and spooky, but l think my unsteadiness with the camera achieved the eerie effect, which l was pleasantly surprised with.
I'll make a photographer one of these days.

and no one on the roads

These were taken last week when l was out and about for work. Once again - hardly anybody was about.
Don't get me wrong, that's what l like about the place, especially when the weather is good.
We certainly live in the middle of nowhere, but are also extremely close the the A1 if we want to find civilisation- hurrah!!.
Therefore, the best of both worlds, as long as other people stay out of my way, and the sun starts shining a bit more.

some recent weather photos

Ah....the beauty of nature and all it's heavenly glories.
Some shots from when l have been out and about, and at one with the environment, absorbing the cosmic energy like a jedi master.

OK - I admit it (and not for the first time) - l'm a sad bastard.

bloody spiders in wagga wagga

After the recent floods in Wagga Wagga, the spiders moved up a bit and span their webs on higher ground. Yet another reason for not going to Australia, as there is no way l could walk across those fields.  Bloody spiders.

It is nearly one year on from the Tsunami that hit Japan. Here are some images that show before and after shots. An amazing thing, that's for sure.

crappy bloody stinking snowy weather

After the rather excellent January we had, the snow that fell at the beginning of February is taking some time to shift. Although l have been indoors 99% of the time while l have been off work, it's still annoying. Then again, it doesn't take a lot to annoy me.
There had better not be any more snow tonight, as l am planning to go to the Boro tomorrow to watch the Manchester United v Liverpool game with Robbo (and maybe see the baby).

the alabama tornado and underground houses

This is one of the pictures of the devastation caused by the recent Tornado in Alabama. What gets me, is why everyone still adheres to the old way of designing and building houses, especially when there is a good chance a Tornado will come along at some stage and destroy them. Why not build them so they are mostly underground?  The houses would be cooler in summer, warmer in winter, pretty soundproof, and a lot harder to destroy. You could probably get some kind of false windows put in if you wanted, with some kind of periscope device that shows the views from above. Don't even go there if you are thinking about flooding or drainage, as that could easily be sorted.
I tell you, l'm wasted in my job (in more ways than one).

the empty a1 this morning

Driving back from work this morning, this was the view. An apocalyptic red sky disappearing into the horizon, and no cars at all on the A1 (either way).
No wonder l don't usually get up early (unless l have to).

the bloody snow has arrived in catterick

After posting earlier about the weather in Middlesbrough yesterday, the snow has arrived in Catterick and it is pretty crapy weather outside. I'm at work at 2pm, and l can't say l am looking forward to going out in it. Where the hell did the summer go?
