a russian takeaway

After the earlier post about Ronaldo's lunch, one of the many sites l frequent is run by a slightly crazy Russian guy. This is a picture of his takaway, a mixture of yummy heart attack inducing foodstuffs with some slightly dodgier looking items (if that's possible). I bet his physique is slightly different from Ronaldo's.
As it was about 3am when l saw it, l was too late to order myself a takeaway, but it sure made me peckish.

ronaldo's lunch

Ever wondered what Ronaldo has for lunch?  Wonder no more, as he has handily put up an instagram photograph of it.
It makes my cheese on toast look rather pathetic (even with added Horseradish).

the new kfc at catterick

The new KFC franchise taking shape at Catterick Garrison. It's meant to be one of the first of the new outlets to be opened, and l (as well as many others) can't wait.
I'll have to get around to expanding  the doorways in my house before the gluttony commences, or l'll be sleeping in the streets.

sauces await arrival of chicken

Now this is what you call eating healthily (not!).
Various sauces awaiting the arrival of fried chicken last night.  Eaten with lots of wine.
Yum yum, and indeed, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

the spoof greggs the bakers logo -' providing shit to scum for over 70 years'

It's been taken down now, but when you googled Greggs the bakers earlier on today, the blue signage was not the usual one, as you can see in the above image.
I just missed out on taking a screenshot, but managed to get a photo, even if it is poor quality. Much as l am scum myself and enjoy Greggs food, this was a classic prank, and l am all for it.

Saying that, Greggs response to it was also pretty good (click photo to enlarge).

another night out in the boro

Mmmmmm   a new Indian we hadn't used before

Instructions for Kerry's injections

The joys of having Mr C - the house is a playroom

Went off again to Middlesbrough yesterday evening to see Robbo and Kerry (and Mr C!) as a kind of joint birthday do for me and Robbo.  There were a couple of disasters beforehand, as Robbo had to take Kerry to a private hospital for some cortisone injections in her back (she's now knocking on a bit), there was also some drama in the Boro with people that we are all close to that l won't go into, and l had to turn around half way towards their house as there had been some kind of a crash and the road was shut down.  We only had a quiet night anyway, with myself and Robbo heading to the Rudds in Marton (for the first time), getting some food from the Jolsha Indian Restaurant at Marton Square (also for the first time), and then returning to Nunthorpe to talk shite until Robbo fell asleep (not for the first time, and he's also knocking on).  I was impressed with the Ruds pub and the indian food (despite them forgetting a dish), but less impressed with the ageing process. Luckily l am now invincible and indestructible, and still look 21 (after many ales have been taken).
Nearly forgot, l bought Robbo an excellent book about Steve Ditko, which l managed to leave alone and not read beforehand prior to handing it over. Believe me, that took strength of character.  I'll have to nick it from him in the future when he is not paying attention.

Mmmmmmm    I've got a hankering for some food, but the thought of it being cock flavoured puts me off somewhat.

the kfc map of london

My favourite map of London, given away free in KFC.  It looks good, it's easy to follow, and more importantly, it has all the KFC outlets at the time. Result!
I think l got it in 1978 when l was sleeping rough in London for a couple of days before heading to Reading Festival.
I might try and find a larger pristine copy and have it framed (even more crap to fill the house with).

oxo drinking

I sometimes drink Oxo cubes in hot water, and love them. I am also from Liverpool, so this question on Yahoo made me laugh, as the 'He's from Liverpool' bit seemed to imply he was mad and explained everything (and it probably does).

I'm back again! (this time from leeds)

Well, l've finally got around to posting again, and not before time.  Christmas and New Year have long gone, and it's back to the grim reality of life.
While l've been away l haven't read much, but have been watching plenty of TV, going out, and working way too hard. Trying to sort out repairs to our house and life in general, and l also banged and split my head open, resulting in a new and improved man (who still has a cab from the cut).
I have just returned from Leeds, where Robbo and myself went to the comic fair at the Town Hall on Saturday, met my brother Paul (as it was his birthday), and pratted about all day and evening, ending up in the Stone Roses bar, dancing with some Leeds fans, before heading for some samosas and bhajis.  Then it was a taxi home for Paul, and back to the hotel for me and Robbo.  The  hotel room was nothing special (we shared a room), but the hotel itself (Bewleys) was pretty good as far as the bar, stag and hen nights, and lounging around chatting in large leather chairs went, so that suited us down to the ground. They were only messing about (I hope) but I still haven't recovered from seeing Paul and Robbo kissing in one of the gay bars.  A more hideous sight l can't imagine, and l'm sure l will be traumatised and scared for life (even more that l already am).
We returned to meet the girls in Middlesbrough the next day, then went to Cross Keys for a couple of pints and some food, before heading back to sunny Catterick, JT's, then wine, chocolate and food at home, followed by a disturbed night due to somebody snoring (I won't say who). Back to reality now and work again this afternoon, but at least there's the Manchester United against Real Madrid game to look forward to this evening. It's going to be close, and it sure is squeaky bum time.
Life goes on, and it least it is nearly summer.

the tardis fridge

Now that is what l call a TARDIS fridge!  Good job young man (it is bound to have been a bloke that did it).  I'm not even a fan of Doctor Who, but l'm impressed, and wouldn't mind one of these in our kitchen.

eric cantona french film poster for l'outremangeur

I took this picture while standing outside the Gare Du Nord in Paris, and it is of the great man himself, Monsieur Eric Cantona, starring as Superintendent Richard Milina in the film L'Outremangeur (The Overeater).  How French can you get?
He was lucky he got the role, because if l had been born in France, there is absolutely no question that l would have had that role sewn up as mine - l was born to play it.

chocolate from joes

As they say in the 'Airplane!' film,  I've picked a fine day to give up chocolate.  I called round to Joes earlier  this evening as his leg/knee was playing up, and he may have to go back into hospital.  He is seeing how he gets on in the next couple of days, but before l headed back home, l was presented with a box of goodies that contained a mixture of chocolates from Cadbury's.  Joe gets them free for some reason (maybe because he owned/owns shares?) but doesn't eat the stuff, so the FPO was happy, and l attacked the Liquorice Allsorts watching United pull back a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2 against Braga.  What a pleasant evening.  Now l'll have to find a place to hide the rest of the chocs or we will be sitting and stuffing our faces every night.

dexys at the sage

A splendid time guaranteed fior all at The Sage in Newcastle last night, where myself and the FPO, plus Robbo and Kerry, went to see Dexys (formally Midnight Runners).  We all stayed at the Premier inn, so had food and drink there first, before heading into town and then across to Gateshead. As it was also my birthday celebration, l also nabbed presents (comics and a graphic novel) and bubbly was quaffed.  Dexys played their new lp first (One day l'm going to soar), then a few reworked oldies.  It was the first time l've been to The Sage, and l must admit, it was pretty impressive, and pretty space age from the outside.  More drinks and food afterwards, then a late night and early morning, as the girls wanted to be up for breakfast.  Too early for my liking, and l felt terrible, but perked up after kipping for an hour on our return home.  No 'Geno' but splendid nonetheless.

cystic echinococcosis (hydatid cyst of the liver)

Don't watch this video if you are squeamish, as it's one of the most disgusting things l have ever seen.  It shows a liver being emptied after it had become full of Echinococcosis larvae (the round balls).  Humans accidentally eat the eggs and can become infected, and these can quickly grow inside the liver.  Urghh!
More information here.

george orwell on waiters

A controversial view of waiters attitudes by the usually reliable George Orwell.  I can't say l agree with his sentiments myself, as the waiters l come into contact with despise me and look at me like l am an overfed lout.  It shows that have got brains at least, because l would do the same in their shoes.  Maybe times have changed (or l am just especially obnoxious).

food, drink and dexy's - result!

Of to the Boro today to meet Robbo and  Kerry (plus Cairan) for lunch at the Cross Keys. A splendid time was had by all, l stuffed my face with a cheese and bacon fat supply (see above), and we ordered some tickets to see Dexy's at the Sage in September, after a possible holiday together at the start of September. Not a bad day's work by anyone's standards, and myself and the FPO even went down to JT's in the evening. One of us was a bit tipsy by the time they came home, lost his balance, and fell in the bath, but l won't say who that was (OK, it was me - drunken idiot).
Keith would be proud. Here's our half of the bill.
