a monster in paris (un monstre a paris) - sean lennon and vanessa paradis

I finally got round to watching the 'A Monster in Paris' animation film the other day, and loved this song by the giant flea ( Francoeur). The lyrics appealed to me the most, to the extent that l checked in the end credits to see who it was by, with the intention of downloading it.
As a  massive (in more ways than one) Beatles fan, you could have knocked me down with a feather (Clever Trevor) when l discovered it was by Sean Lennon, son of John.
Anyone who knows me will now be aware that l will have to dig out all of Sean's solo stuff that l have listened to briefly in the past and then stashed away, in case there are other undiscovered gems to be found.
It's a hard life being interested in everything (and time consuming).

Here's the song with lyrics

And here's the animation version

Also, Vanessa Paradis (as Lucille in the film) sings a pretty fine version of La Seine.
Here's the slow French version, which l, being a cool and trendy dude, prefer.

eric cantona french film poster for l'outremangeur

I took this picture while standing outside the Gare Du Nord in Paris, and it is of the great man himself, Monsieur Eric Cantona, starring as Superintendent Richard Milina in the film L'Outremangeur (The Overeater).  How French can you get?
He was lucky he got the role, because if l had been born in France, there is absolutely no question that l would have had that role sewn up as mine - l was born to play it.

the clash doing tom egan

I was watching a French documentary about photographers (especially Pennie Smith), and it featured some footage of The Clash.  What song was it?  According to the documentary, it was 'Tom Egan'.   As far as myself, The Clash, and the rest of the right thinking (and English speaking) world is concerned, it will always be known as 'Tommy Gun', as that is what it's called (from the LP 'Give 'Em Enough Rope'.

a church up a tree

A church up a tree. This would usually be followed by 'only in America', but the tree/church hybrid is actually located in France in a small farming village called Allouville-Bellefosse. It's called Chene Chappelle (chapel oak), and the tree is about 800 years old. The chapel was first built in 1696, after the tree was hit by lightening and two monks thought it would make a good sanctuary to the Virgin Mary.  Now I'm not religious in any way, shape or form, but it's one of the many places l would like to visit.
#Sings#  'If l only had more time (and money)'
Those crazy French monks etc
