When l've said l preferred football in the 1970's, l didn't mean l wanted Manchester United to go back to being as crap as they were at the start of that decade. Be careful what you wish for.

As my small outside pipe was dripping (fnaar) l had to call in a plumber to fit a new ball cock (fnaaar again), as there was no way l was going into the attic to fight off the spiders and do it myself. It cost £90 and l curse life in general when things go wrong, but it's much better than me crapping my pants in the attic (and probably not doing the job right anyway). Here's the offending problem. I've recently enjoyed watching the Australian series 'Spirited', with a sparkling performance by Peep Show's Super Hans (Matt King). In my view, the first series is better than the second, but the main gripe is with this abomination by whatever 12 year old is in charge of the subtitles. They've obviously never heard of Marc Bolan, but these kinds of things are important, and should be checked. Fetch my blunderbuss - l demand retribution!!

Well this ended up being pretty damn sweet!  It was a really crap game featuring a lot of possession football and hardly any shots on target, but the result made it all worthwhile, and l was certainly not expecting it. Happy to settle for a 1-0 defeat at the time, but praise the good lord that changed and there were drinks all round afterwards. Football - Bloody Hell!

And as for Kyle Walker feigning a headbutt, it's not just embarrassing, it's part of the rampant cheating in modern football that needs to be stopped, including all the grabbing that goes on at corner kicks. Retrospectively ban him and others for this sort of behaviour and it will stop overnight. It's not difficult.

OK, l get that Donald Trump's return to win the USA election (narrowly) is obviously big news and it's unbelievable he will be president again, rather than being locked up, but this is just the kind of praise  and publicity Trump will love, and it kind of helps justify his actions and rhetoric. To me however, The New European naming Gisele Pelicot as their person of the year is a much better choice, and if you don't know who she is, you should really go and investigate. It's horrific, but the amount of bravery she has shown has been off the chart.

steak cooking guide for my mate

I've a friend (Hello Robbo) who always orders steak when we go out for a meal, and like the knobhead he is, always ends up sending it back as it is always (in his bitter and twisted eyes) over or under cooked. I think l will laminate this guide and take it out with us next time, but l also know it will make not one iota of difference. Liverpool's Cavern club in the late 1970's - reduced to a car park.  This is obviously before Liverpool went Beatles crazy again and re-invented itself again as a Beatles tourist hotspot. Most people in the late 1970's were more interested in the present and the future, and Eric's was much more important a club as far as music fans from the area were concerned. That has certainly changed now.
