over used movie poster ideas

Movies.  Don't you just love them?  It's bad enough that so many movies follow the same kind of formulas, but it's even worse when the posters for them also follow suit.  Here's some fine examples, but more can be found at this excellent imgur page, plus the meanings behind the artwork.

manchester united photograph saved just in time

I saved this photograph / poster of Manchester United from the garage a couple of weeks or so ago, and it was just in time, as it has been chewed on the left hand side by mice or rats. Luckily, with a bit of trimming, it will look as good as new.
Back from when football was old school.  Although l can't wait for the new season to start, l still preferred the game years ago.

calexico at glastonbury festival

Watching some of the Glastonbury Festival highlights yesterday, l was disappointed to see how few people were there to see Calexico.  There may well have been something else on at the same time that took would be fans away, but it must still be frustrating for them playing to so few at such a large festival, after all the work they have put in over the years.
My own view is that they would be a bigger band if they stuck to more of their up tempo tunes, therefore creating a raucous live atmosphere.  On the other hand, part of the reason l like them because of the sometimes haunting mood that they put across.  They seem to be sticking to playing whatever takes their fancy, and if that leads to success or failure, so be it.
Doing things the right way.  I have a lot of admiration for that attitude, but sadly, l can't see them continuing for a lot longer.
As a side note, some of the  the artwork they use on their posters and t-shirts is brilliant, check it out below (although the middle one is an actual Calexico (the place) poster.  Would still look good on a t-shirt though.

the dandy warhols artwork and spanish elvis

I always think if you are going to do something like be in a band, you should do it properly and take care of the minor details, as it enhances your appeal and attraction.  As a case in point, l will refer you to The Dandy Warhols, who's artwork and media presentation has been paid loving attention to, with superb results.

Also, I recently saw a Spanish Elvis Presley impersonator in Menorca, and was disappointed straight away, as he never came on to Elvis' theme music ( 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' ) and didn't do the old 'Elvis has now left the building' routine at the end.  Little things like that matter. Especially to me.
The clip below is the real Elvis, complete with the opening theme. Spanish Elvis was not the same.

foreign beatles 'yellow submarine' posters

More things l would like to own.  Foreign film posters for The Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' film.  The bottom one is my favourite.  I can't say l love the film (I'm not a madman), but some of the songs and the artwork for the posters are still great.
Pass the drugs and album, it's time to trip out and open the old doors of perception (if they can still creak open).
All together now....

w.c fields posters

No excuse needed to put up some old W.C Fields posters.  The man was funny - very funny (and he died on Christmas Day, as did Dean Martin).

anti usa poster (l think)

I don't know where this poster is from, nor what the message is, but it looks to be anti American, so l assume it's about the USA interfering with other nations, throwing their weight about, and spreading their capitalist ideals gangster style, at the cost of the innocent children.   Then again, maybe the American is looking at the child in disgust as he has been killed by someone else, and the Americans are coming in to rescue the country (and children).  Either way, it's still a striking poster. If only l could read the propaganda writing, it would make more sense, but if l was a betting man, my money would be on the Americans being the baddies.

clockwork orange babies

If only this Clockwork Orange Babies series were real, it would be great.  Unfortunately they are a spoof concept by Butcher Billy, and more artwork from the series can be found here.  How long before these are posted as from a real series?

posters for the original ocean's 11

Posters for the original 1960 film of Oceans 11,  from when stars were stars.   I still think Dean Martin was the coolest out of them, and l will hear no argument otherwise.   My dad used to love him, and l grew up listening to the records, whether l liked it or not, but it was a fine education for any drunken scouse chancer (of which l am one).

How very true.  Santa does indeed, give more to rich kids than the poor.
