new yorker cartoon and uk politics

This New Yorker cartoon sums up how a lot of people in the American election would have voted, but before taking the piss out of the Americans too much, remember that a lot of people in the UK vote for the Conservatives when it is clear that they will bear the brunt of the Tory policies afterwards.

And on a related note...

spanking machines

I've got a friend who may be interested in buying one of these. Designs (or ideas) for Spanking Machines, from the 1930's and 1940's.

shit creek reaction to the vote

I don't know who the artist is that came up with this, but if l find out, credit will be added, as it pretty much sums up my views on the Brexit victory.

##  After some searching this morning, l've discovered that the original cartoon is by Tim Cordell, but the message at the bottom has been changed. The Tim's original can be bought here.

serge van de put art and the jungle book original artwork

This looks like Mr Parrot first thing in the morning

Serge Van De Put is a Belgium artists who works with recycled materials such as old rubber tyres.
All well and right on, but forget about the recycled part, his artworks are superb, my favourite being  The Gorillas series, which kind of remind me (in some kind of twisted subconscious way) of Baloo the bear from The Jungle Book.

Talking of The Jungle Book.....here's some of the original artwork from that modern day masterpiece.

the rather rude weather forecast

As the sunshine has finally arrived, it's an appropriate time to show this old classic.
A rather suggestive weather forecast from America.
You can't convince me that the artist didn't know what they were doing, but l am surprised (yet happy) the paper printed it.

donald trump and boris johnson

The Daily News have got it spot on, an old adage that is still true today.
I think Donald Trump is a joke, but a dangerous one, who may well get elected.
Normally l would say 'Only in America', but then l think of our own loveable nincompoop, Boris Johnson. l wouldn't be surprised if he rocks up in the future as the leader of the Conservatives, and possibly the country. A bright man pretending to be a bumbling idiot, who has not hidden the fact that he thinks some people (let's face it - the poor) are too stupid to improve their lives. I suppose it's still better than the spoon fed idiots acting bright that we are lumbered with at the moment.
But not much.
Bring on the revolution!

                                                         Possibly our future 'glorious' leader

the velvet / peanut underground

Excellent. I used to love the Charlie Brown and Peanuts books when l was a kid, and l love The Velvet Underground now.
A win / win situation for me.
This would look great on a t-shirt.

And as proof that The Velvet Underground is not just weird music, here's one of their many slow love songs. Lou Reed sure knew how to write a tune.

I have absolutely no idea what this picture and text is meant to represent, but it amuses me anyway.
Found on this blog.

dr faustusaus and nick cave - red right hand

The words are from the rather excellent song by Nick Cave (from Let Love In), but the artwork is by DrFaustusAU.
As far as l know he hasn't made it into a full book yet, but he should. It's like a Hammer House of Horrors cartoon Cat in the Hat (always a good thing).
Lots more of the doctors artwork can be found here.

If you are not aware of the song  - fear not.......

jungle book lobby cards

More stuff that l would collect if l had unlimited funds - lobby cards from my favourite films.
Here's some from one of them - The Jungle Book (the original).
Don't get me started on the sacrilege that was Jungle Book 2).

And here's an early sketch of Baloo the bear, looking like a fatter version of Mr Parrot.
