I'm all in favour of this, but who are the mad as fuck 24% still thinking of voting for The Conservatives?

Booze, news and views from a drunken opinionated fool who can't spell very well, may well repeat himself, and can't blame it on dislexia

I doff my cap regarding Art Spiegelman, as he is a comic genius, and the Maus graphic novels are possibly the greatest of all time. However, admitting on the re-release of his 'In the Shadow of No Towers' book that he didn't redo the cover (that was done in collaboration with his wife, Francoise Mouly) and used AI as he was 'too lazy' is sacrilege. I think l will stick to my (oversized) original then, as l'm too lazy to go hunting for the new copy if he can't be bothered doing the work. After all, it's only the cover and size of the book that's changed, so if he's not doing the cover, what's the point of me purchasing another copy of it.? Grrrrrrrrr. He's still a genius though, so go and buy his work (especially Maus)

Whether you like her or not, or indeed have no opinion of her, this old coldwarsteve picture sums up what's being repeated again. Another media frenzy over Meghan Markle, while people much more deserving of inquisitive press attention are hardly spoken about.

There's been much picking and sniping at Andy Burnham in the press and TV about some of his governments smaller policies, but he sums it up well here. It's not an either / or situation whereby he's only doing something small, he's trying to sort out a lot of problems (left by the Tories) and he's right, these small things do matter, and his changes will help all. Apart that is from the people running car parks etc who are trying to rip the public off.

This was pointed out at the start of the latest 'Rockonteurs' podcast by Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt, but l'd certainly never noticed it before. The font (first used by David Bowie) is the same as used by Gordon Giltrap and Iron Maiden. Origin of the font currently unknown, although it's known as 'Busk'. Just the sort of useless information that l love and live for. Well played lads.
I was staggered to see recent photographs of (the very fine actor) John Goodman, as he has lost a hell of a lot of weight and now looks completely different, and good luck to him for doing so. Once again (although it doesn't happen often) my flabber is gasted. Well played sir.

About bleeding time!! I've got my fingers and toes crossed that this is true, and they start targeting people like Richard Tice.

So Toby Young is a 'brave new radical' is he? See some of his messages for public consumption below, and if he's prepared to put them out for all to see, imagine what he's like in private.
This is news that will surprise no-one with even half a brain, and has been documented for years. The full Close to the Edge article is here. I think Trump is not just worried about what Putin has on him, he's such a cowardly child rapist he may also worry Putin may try to kill him, although l'd hate to be the person who tried to lift and throw Trump out of a window.
Come on! You've got to admit this looks hilarious. Mind you, the spider costumes are still the best (and most terrifying!).

I see the right wing gobshites are now hastily trying to reverse their support of Trump. These dickheads knew what kind of man Trump was (and is) years ago but were more than happy to support him for whatever reasons they had, and shouldn't be taken seriously as 'journalists' by anyone. They're full of hate and self privilege, and paid way to much money to hoist their vile opinion pieces on the easily led masses that read these rags, and talk about their views on TV. They turn hate into entertainment and help sow the division and hatred in the country, which social media then amplifies. Fuck them and their views.

What an excellent response, and so very true (and it's an excellent book). If more Republics read a bit more perhaps the USA wouldn't be in such a mess. My suspicion is it's being pulled from shelves because the GOP don't want people to be sympathetic towards minorities / blacks.

Well this is news that will surprise nobody. Money certainly talks (or swears).

An interesting article by Fraser Nelson (here) looking at the latest crime statistics. Despite what Reform and the right wing press might be telling you, figures (apart from bag snatches and shoplifting) are going down. It's just that due to the right wing scaremongers, public perception of crimes is skewered. Including in that London. Not that actual figures will change anyone's mind.

I'll admit l hadn't given the subject much thought in the past, but l was reading earlier today about how water molecules change when turning into ice (as you do). This graphic then helped give me a visual understanding. The water molecules on the right are turning into ice (on the left). The molecule change makes the hexagon shape shown, creating more space. This represents how the ice takes up more space, and is also lighter, due to the gaps. Probably known to many already, but news to me. Every day is a learning day.

Address the racists and misogynists in their party? How can Reform do that when it will be full of them? So of course play the victim instead and kick up a fuss about being exposed.

If there was ever a better metaphor for Pete Hegseth and his staff's general incompetence, l've yet to see it. They can't even move a globe without breaking it FFS and then tried to stop a photograph of the broken globe (below) getting out. Which they also failed to do. Today's USA under Trump summed up.
A reminder that this was the post Elon Musk put up after Ukraine had taken out some Russian bot factories (that boost Musk's ramblings). Rather suspiciously just before Ukraine's defense support was slowed down so that it was of no use, causing extra people, mainly civilians, to die. Obviously Musk denied any wrongdoing but has been found to have been lying. Meanwhile, about 85% of satellites surrounding the Earth are controlled by Musk, and don't forget, if he can stop Ukraine being able to defend itself, he could also do this to other countries, including the USA. No man should have that much power, and we will be made to pay for this in the future.

When l was unemployed many years ago a friend asked if l wanted to make some money giving him a hand delivering coal. I wasn't keen but needed some extra money for something or other so foolishly said yes. I had trouble mastering putting the coal on my shoulder, so spent all day delivering like in the photograph above (not me in the picture). Luckily l was young and fit, but trust me, one day was enough, and l was more than happy to get back to idling around all day reading and playing records.

I may have put this photograph up before as it was taken when l was trying to sort out my new phone, as l lost my old one. I think you may guess l like music.
