praying for tubbs

After the rather sad recent death of Tubbs, my old (and ancient) rabbit, l was reminded of this.
I'd like to think that he is now skipping around in rabbit heaven with his long deceased brother Sid, but unfortunately, l very much doubt it.

ingenious rabbit makeup

Even though you can look at the stages of it being applied, it is still hard to take in at the end.

cutting the bleeding grass (again!)

Well, the lawnmower has eventually been fixed, and l have been able to cut the bleeding grass at long last.  I had already cut it once this year when it was really overgrown, so l was a bit pissed off it had grown so much  again.  I even got a blister on my hand, as the last thing l am used to these days  is hard manual work (soft handed girl that l am).
I also cut some branches off the trees and am going to have a bonfire to burn them all, but l had better make sure Tubbs isn't hiding among the crap, like he was doing today.
Maybe he has had enough of being stuck with me and has got a death wish. He certainly didn't look too happy to be bought back in.
Time to get his mind right, as he needs to know who's boss around these parts (or no carrots for him in the morning).

nozzer's vet bill

When sorting out some crap in the house the other night, l came across this old vet bill from when Nozzer, our old rabbit was going to the vets all of the time as he kept having puss oozing out of him.
£75.96 bleeding pounds!!!!
Luckily the rabbit had character, and if it cost that much to sort him out, so be it.
Sadly he didn't live that much longer, and Tubbs the idiot rabbit from outside got to come into the house and pester me.
Still, it was good while it lasted.

tubbs celebrating manchester united as champions

It's a bit out of focus, but here's Tubbs the idiot rabbit celebrating Manchester United as champions this evening.  There is no way at the end of last year that l thought United had a chance, so it's pretty sweet they have done it.

good news for ralph the rabbit

It's good news for Ralph the Rabbit, as he has regained his crown of being the heaviest rabbit in the UK, after weighing in at nearly 4 stone (3 stone 8lb). He eats nearly £50 worth of food a week, and is cared for by the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust.
He makes our similar looking, tubby, idiotic prat of a rabbit appear anorexic.
The full story was in the Tory supporting 'The Daily Express' and can be found here.

Plus any excuse for a bit of John Cooper Clarke!

co co the clever rabbit

Also amongst the old pictures....This is Co Co, one of our old rabbits, now sadly dead.   He was easily the cleverest one we've had, and the only one to go up the stairs by himself in our house.  He used to come trotting (if rabbits can trot) over and leap onto your knee for a stroke, and even fetched stuff if you threw it.  Now we are stuck with Tubbs the idiot rabbit we have at the moment, stinking the place out with his stupidity (but he'll also be missed when he's gone).

visiting joe in hospital (again) and the love crazed rabbit

As it was another glorious day full of the Great Lords sunshine today, l took up some stuff  for Joe, who has been admitted into James Cook hospital and had another hip replacement done, as there were complications with the first one.
I needed some fuel when l set off, but was amazed to see the queues  at the local garage. I had to wait a while to get served, and fuelled by the paranoia about strikes and shortages (see what l did there) , decided to put in extra diesel 'just in case'. Of course this also develops into a 'Catch 22' situation, and will probably cause shortages in the future, but what the fuck, l need the fuel anyway, and just got a little bit extra to save me queueing later on and make sure l can get to work (but not until next Tuesday afternoon).
Joe was his normal self (unsure if that is good or bad), in a private room, and is going to be kept in for 4 - 6 weeks.
Saw Robbo afterwards, got some wine for home, and watched some recorded stuff on the TV with the FPO (with the idiot rabbit finally crumbling and licking my nose at long last).
A loved crazed rabbit, a drunken FPO, Joe with his radio, and me on the computer. All is present and correct with the world.

brothers in leeds

There is an ongoing joke around these parts that 'my brother lives in Leeds'.  This is indeed true, and after l had finished work today, l drove him to Northallerton station to catch the train back there (he has been staying since last Thursday).  Peace and quiet at last (and a day off work tomorrow!).
But thinking about brothers, Tub's (our idiot house rabbit) brother died a while ago. Maybe though, he has another one, as the misserable and stupid looking git above sure looks like him, just a (slightly) fatter and lazier version (and the bloke looks like my brother nowadays).
I'll have to quiz the bunny about it later on tonight over a carrot or two while we watch the footie.

the illusionist / le illusionniste - (2010) - sylvain chomet

From an unfilmed Jacques Tati (who is shown on a movie screen) script, The Illusionist tells the story of Tatisfcheff, (Tati's real name) a magician trying to get bookings and generally survive, as the twin forces of rock and roll and television take over (it's set in 1959). Similar in style to Chamot's earlier The Triplets of Belleville / Belleville Rendezous, but at a more relaxing pace.  Tatisfcheff  gets a booking in the Scottish Highlands, where he befriends a young  girl called Alice, who runs away to Edinburgh with him, believing he can really perform magic. There's nothing sexual between them, and they are like father and daughter, staying in separate rooms while he performs in theatre. It's basically a Cinderella story, as the girl transforms from rags to riches (sort of), as the illusionist buys her clothes and shoes. She however, does not realise he is down on his luck, working odd jobs to make ends meet (and eventually pawning his magic stuff). He then sees her with another man more her age, obviously in love, and so decides to leave her with him, as she has now blossomed into a young woman.
It's about changes in life, and father / daughter relationships, probably based on Tati's own, hence the photo at the end. It's also about friendships, keeping up a cheerful façade no matter what life throws at you, and whether you really know someone when you are only presented with what they wish to reveal. Brilliant animation throughout, and Edinburgh looks fantastic in the way it is portrayed (as does the white bunny).
I loved it (hence all the photographs).

united beat chelsea - torres misses a sitter, and l am covered in hairs

What happens next? Excellent!

The rabbits arse and my groin (not for the first or last time)

The bloody rabbit hairs

What a gay afternoon. United beat Chelsea 3-1, Torres misses a sitter, and l have had the rabbit cuddling up to me while l sat on the floor watching the footie. Only problem is, he seems to be moulting again. Blithering idiot that he is.

the opposite of tubbs

Tubbs, our idiot of a rabbit would never be able to pose for an advert like this. For sleeping tablets or stupid pills, no problem.
