drugs influencing football violence
Discussing football on The Afterword forum. Fortuneight is correct. I've argued this case for years, and having experienced lots of drugs, football matches and violence over the years, l know what l am on about.
lee anderson is half right shock
I've no doubt that Lee Anderson does speak for the Conservative faithful. On the other hand, they (like him) are racists.
Never vote Tory.

thames water taking the piss
How much can companies continue to take the piss? Thames Water here, leading from the front, wanting to increase bills to customers, pay more dividends to shareholders, and have lower fines for pollution, as shit gets pumped untreated into our waters. No doubt the government will pass this legislation if they think they can get away with it so the rich get richer, but at our expense.
Never vote Tory.

my tony hancock self portrait
I've posted this before, but l love the dust covered picture (sadly not the original). A self portrait by Tony Hancock, as featured in the film 'The Rebel'.

the reform party conference
Some jolly happy go lucky always look on the bright side of life cheerful carefree individuals here (Lee Anderson not in picture yet).
Where's my invitation to join? These are the sort of people l should be sharing a pint with.

class war in richmond castle
This is on one of the cell walls in Richmond Castle, North Yorkshire, just up the road from me. Written by an imprisoned conscientious objector, it's just as true today.
lee anderson statement
First of all, l don't think the applause happened, but l bet he did get some support because sadly, there are ignorant racists in this country. He already knows this of course, as he tries desperately tries to appeal to them.
He is the type of twat that gives this country a bad name, and makes me proud to be a Scouser, but not so proud about being English.

tiger comic from 1954 with unused free gifts
Looking for comics on ebay earlier today (as l often do), l came across this little beauty. It's the UK Tiger comic, first issue, from 1954. What makes this special though (and expensive) is that it has the free gifts included, which are unused, despite instructions inside the comic of how to use the gun. If l had unlimited money l would collect many more comics, including the likes of this, and move to a larger house. In the meantime, there's no way l'm bidding.

potatoes in peru
I've spent some time over the last day or so cooking a load of stuff to freeze before it goes off, including a load of potatoes, followed by eating sweet potatoes with plenty of mayonnaise and honey (I know how to live!). However, I feel myself and the rest of the country are being short changed - here's a selection of the different types of potatoes they have in Peru. I don't want to go and live there, but I do want to try them all (but will obviously never get around to doing anything to achieve this task).

the waterboys box set - 1985
To add to my previously purchased Waterboys box sets, this new one was waiting for me when l arrived home from work yesterday, and although l haven't had time to play it all or read the book yet, once out of the box, it looks fantastic, and the book looks much more substantial and informative than l was expecting. It's the tracks based around The Waterboys 1985 album 'This is the Sea' spread over 6 cds, with the beforementioned hardback book included. As l used to be a bootlegger, l've heard many Waterboys outtakes and radio sessions from this time already, but there's plenty more here to keep me entertained for some time. For what it's worth (Great song by Buffalo Springfield), with the albums 'A Pagan Place', 'This is the Sea' and 'Fisherman's Blues', and their incendiary and eclectic live shows during this period, they were probably the best band in the world, matched only by U2 at their peak. The top picture is an advert for the album at the time

re-reading richard brautigan
Had a fun time recently re-reading some old Richard Brautigan novels, reminding me of the hippie counter culture that l love so much, and wishing l had been around to experience it at the time (although l've done my best since). Sombrero Fallout is my favourite amongst these beauties, although l do like the farting part of 'A Confederate General from Big Sur' as it appeals to my childish sense of humour. l'll have to try and locate my old copy of 'Trout Fishing in America', re-read that, and then stash them all away again, until l eventually find time for the short stories (which l haven't managed to do so far). Brautigan isn't too popular these days, but he certainly had a way with words and crazy ideas, and l like the crazy coot.
Peace and Love.

face the facts - if you desire a coloured for your neighbour
As the election gets closer, and the Tory party lurch even more to right wing policies, l fully expect them to start campaigns similar to earlier ones such as this to try and discredit Labour, and appeal to their own 'Stop the Boats' flag waving Brexit voting fan base. Even if they don't go as far as this again, it's not going to pretty, and they will use every dirty trick in the book (and not allowed in the book). With the USA election also this year, it's going to be depressing.

Had an Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm check earlier today at Richmond Community Hospital (The old Friary Hospital), and I'm pleased to report l got the all clear, and everything is in tip top condition. Still indestructible!!

Yesterdays House of Commons fiasco summed up, although l think 'Blackmailing the speaker' is a bit strong.
