'One of them works for Hamas' my arse.  As Henry Mance states, proportionality has gone out of the window, but it's the only way Israel can continue to justify the bombing of what is left in Gaza. The reasoning l use when describing these actions when arguing my case for the majority of Palestinians, is Britain didn't relentlessly bomb and try to ethnically clean Ireland when the IRA were detonating explosives on our mainland on a regular basis, as that too would not have been a proportional response. Stop arming them for a start!

So the Palestine Action Support situation is going to get a lot worse and more troublesome for Labour, who at some stage are going to have to backtrack. I'd suggest going down the route that the law have deemed the protesters not to be terrorists, and although we (ie Labour) want to clamp down, we can't. Some losing face to the courts, but better than what is currently happening, which is inexplicable in it's misguidedness (see also my earlier post on the matter).

A really good article by Liam Thorpe in today's Liverpool Echo regarding the booing of the national anthem and the shouting by Crystal Palace fans during a minutes silence at yesterday's Charity Shield game. I (as any sensible person should) agree that they are completely different. One is expressing an ongoing dislike and distrust that Liverpool hold for the rest of the country, especially when run by the Tories (with good reason), and the other is ruining a show of respect for two people who sadly lost their lives and where football rivalries should be put aside to honour the dead. If these people are terrorists, l'm a banana (as Ian Hislop would probably say).  What a waste of time, money and resources arresting previously well behaved and mostly old members of society having a peaceful protest, sitting down holding signs, compared to the reaction when right wing violent racists target asylum hotels with their 'legitimate concerns' and 'protecting women and children' shtick. The injustices heaped upon the ordinary Palestinians and the deliberate ethnic cleansing and starvation of it's people by the IDF and Netanyahu will one day be judged as the war crimes they are and future historians will look back and wonder how it was allowed to happen in plain sight of the world. The more the government clamp down on these peaceful protesters the more ridiculous it looks, and the numbers who support such actions will only increase as the arresting figures grow more absurd. The idiocy of the situation is highlighted by this letter in The Times today by the former UK commander of RAF Geenham Common cruise missile base (below).

I was watching the Manchester United versus Fiorentina friendly yesterday, and Fiorentina substituted their goalkeeper David De Gea near the end so that he could get a round of applause from the crowd, as he is an ex Manchester United player and this was his first return.  All well and good, but the goalkeeper that replaced him looked about 12. L know as you get older it's a cliche to say policemen etc are getting younger, but come on!The goalkeeper's meant to boss his area at corners and intimidate opposition forwards. He'll need a VPN to look at porn as he he looks like he won't meet the age verification stipulations.

Sure as night follows day, vaccinations stop, cases increase, and now they are searching for cures (which will make some companies rich) while, 'Dr' Ben Edwards gives vitamin A shots (further down).  It would be funny if it wasn't so sad, predictable and depressing, as in the meantime, some people (mainly children) will die.
