the speaker's missing from the budget, but michael green is there

Half heartedly watching the budget at the moment, but missing Lindsay Hoyle, the speaker.

On the other hand, Michael Green is there (when he should have gone to jail).

mario mankey installations

I'm a sucker for an interesting art installation, and these examples by the Spanish artist Mario Mankey certainly float my boat. I'm especially keen on the feet through the ceiling one (Ergo Erectus)

things to make you feel old part 7685957675856 - Richard Vernon

It's the loveable moptops in 'A Hard Day's Night' with an elderly pompous city gent, played by Richard Vernon. The Beatles stood for youth and a new way of living, and not taking stick from your supposed elders and betters.  Reader, Richard Vernon was 39 at the time.

Off to the pub with low expectations for the Manchester derby.  At least there will be a better person behind the bar than this joker.

john peel's 40 favourite records

When John Peel turned 40, he played 40 of his favourite records on wonderful Radio One. I recorded the show and all of them have had plenty of airings since then. A great mix of tunes.

Plus here's his Festive Fifty.  Punk's arrived!!

Discussing football on The Afterword forum.  Fortuneight is correct. I've argued this case for years, and having experienced lots of drugs, football matches and violence over the years, l know what l am on about.

lee anderson is half right shock

I've no doubt that Lee Anderson does speak for the Conservative faithful. On the other hand, they (like him) are racists.

Never vote Tory.

thames water taking the piss

How much can companies continue to take the piss?  Thames Water here, leading from the front, wanting to increase bills to customers, pay more dividends to shareholders, and have lower fines for pollution, as shit gets pumped untreated into our waters. No doubt the government will pass this legislation if they think they can get away with it so the rich get richer, but at our expense.

Never vote Tory.

Some jolly happy go lucky always look on the bright side of life cheerful carefree individuals here (Lee Anderson not in picture yet).

Where's my invitation to join? These are the sort of people l should be sharing a pint with.

But what the hell is this???  I thought my brother (Birthday on the 29th) lived in Leeds?  What's he doing there??  His invitation must have arrived.

lee anderson statement

First of all, l don't think the applause happened, but l bet he did get some support because sadly, there are ignorant racists in this country. He already knows this of course, as he tries desperately tries to appeal to them.

He is the type of twat that gives this country a bad name, and makes me proud to be a Scouser, but not so proud about being English.

Jimi Hendrix - Manic Depression

tiger comic from 1954 with unused free gifts

Looking for comics on ebay earlier today (as l often do), l came across this little beauty. It's the UK Tiger comic, first issue, from 1954. What makes this special though (and expensive) is that it has the free gifts included, which are unused, despite instructions inside the comic of how to use the gun. If l had unlimited money l would collect many more comics, including the likes of this, and move to a larger house.  In the meantime, there's no way l'm bidding.

Jimi Hendrix - The Wind Cries Mary

lovely record storage but with no spider alert

I must admit this setup looks really cosy, especially on a cold winters evening, and l had a similar carpet for many years.  However, the carpet pattern disguises spiders in the vicinity, which is most definitely not a good thing, so l for one, could never really relax, especially in an 'altered' state . Hence the reason l'm back to a light carpet / wooden floor combination. Plus the plants and dim lights would have to go, as they're also camouflage for the eight legged beasts.
I think l need to seek help.

potatoes in peru

I've spent some time over the last day or so cooking a load of stuff to freeze before it goes off, including a load of potatoes, followed by eating sweet potatoes with plenty of mayonnaise and honey (I know how to live!). However, I feel myself and the rest of the country are being short changed - here's a selection of the different types of potatoes they have in Peru. I don't want to go and live there, but I do want to try them all (but will obviously never get around to doing anything to achieve this task).

Billie Eilish - Bury a Friend (Official Music Video)

the waterboys box set - 1985

To add to my previously purchased Waterboys box sets, this new one was waiting for me when l arrived home from work yesterday, and although l haven't had time to play it all or read the book yet, once out of the box, it looks fantastic, and the book looks much more substantial and informative than l was expecting. It's the tracks based around The Waterboys 1985 album 'This is the Sea' spread over 6 cds, with the beforementioned hardback book included. As l used to be a bootlegger, l've heard many Waterboys outtakes and radio sessions from this time already, but there's plenty more here to keep me entertained for some time. For what it's worth (Great song by Buffalo Springfield), with the albums 'A Pagan Place', 'This is the Sea' and 'Fisherman's Blues', and their incendiary and eclectic live shows during this period, they were probably the best band in the world, matched only by U2 at their peak. The top picture is an advert for the album at the time
