postcards and notes inside old books

It's strange what you can find tucked away inside old books. I've recently been out and about charity shopping (again), and found the items below inside a couple of the many books l purchased. I'm usually mildly curious about who's owned the books before they were donated, but items like these certainly make me more interested.

Item 1 - Three unused Canadian postcards inside Olga Grushin's 'The Dream Life of  Sukhanov'

Item 2 - A Postcolonialism and Hybridity critical reading list from Dr Caroline Herbert inside Hanif Kureishi's 'The Buddha of Suburbia'.
The trouble with this list, is because l am interested in reading books l may not have heard of, or bothered with in the past, a list like this makes me want to read the ones l haven't already read if they are grouped with ones l have enjoyed.
I need more time off work (and more room for the junk).

going mad in tesco's

The next time l want some milk and tomatoes, l will just go to the corner shop, as l am the kind of impulse buyer that Tesco love.
It turned out to be an expensive shop for something that would have cost a couple of pounds!

savings at tesco

After calling in at the local Tesco's for some shopping, l got home to discover that on my spend of nearly £65, l had saved 29 pence on branded items.
Hurrah!!
I'm in the money, and off out to celebrate tonight!

impulse buying in tesco

This is what happens when you follow your impulses. I only went into Tesco to buy some butter, and ended up spending £65.
I'm just the sort of customer they will love. Living on the edge!

more goodies

More goodies picked up while l've been out and about at the charity shops, plus some swag from 'Sound it Out' records in Stockton.
The pile of books to read is geting bigger.  I managed to read 'Boy about Town' by Tony Fletcher yesterday, but the ongoing mess next to my bed is also growing.
I've said it before, and l will say it again, l need more time off work (or to win the lottery).

newcastle shopping

Went off to sunny Newcastle today with the FPO to do the Christmas shopping. It took bleeding ages getting into the car park by the Haymarket, as there was a traffic gridlock for some reason. It was also freezing, but luckily l knew what l had to get so it did not take too long, plenty of time for a swift ale in The Percy Arms, one of the few old pubs in town that is still rough. To tell the truth, l felt like being sick when l was swigging my drink, but traditions have to be adhered to. Went to The Tyneside Theatre cafe for lunch (on the FPO's orders), and then she left her eggs on toast. Pah! Back home and wrapping up pressies, both coughing and a spluttering. Nice. Last day at work tomorrow for at least two whole days! Can't wait.
