fingers crossed for the statement

Here's hoping he'll bugger off into the long grass, but I'm willing to wager his statement will be full of false accusations and victimhood no matter what he whines on about. A corrupt racist and nasty grfiter.

boz scaggs - don't cry no more

across the universe - darlington hippodrome

I've just returned from a most splendid evening with work (a hard job but someone's got to do it) watching the 'Across the Universe' stage show, and l would certainly recommend it. All songs from 1966 - 1970 performed with brass and strings. There's no dressing up and no impersonations, but it certainly sounded like The Beatles, and sounds a lot better live than the video below. Pity they didn't do 'Tomorrow Never Knows' but that's a minor quible. Catch it if you can.

the supreme court upholds birthright citizenship

I agree with this 100%, but it only passed by 6 votes to 3. It should have been 9 - 0.

george best being his usual cool self

Here's a photograph of George Best waiting in the tunnel to receive his European Footballer of the Year award at Old Trafford in 1969. Obviously George is looking his usual cool self, but the guy in the tracksuit next to him is more than holding his own in looking cool and nonchalant.

another liverpool visit and still not been in the cavern

I decided to pay a short visit to Liverpool to visit family and do some things l've never got round to in the past, such as going in The Cavern. The visiting family part of the trip was accomplished, but let's just say l met some dodgy lads in town and ended up recreating my old Keith Richards wannabe days, which of course saw me experiencing the inside of some different pubs, but that was about it. Mind you, as far as unplanned evenings go, it was magnificent, so no regrets, although l did end up leaving (and losing) my phone on the train home. Here's a couple of photos l took on an earlier trip*

Erics / Revolution

Pete Best in Mathew street (After the Cavern was knocked down). It used to be top left in the photo.

* Possibly a lie (and l'd forgotten l've done a post already about this trip).  Blame senility.

qween -- northallerton forum

I must admit that when Qween came on stage earlier tonight dressed in their wigs and early 1970's stage clothes, they looked a bit ridiculous, but they won me over and the singer who played Freddie Mercury was excellent and had a great voice. Obviously he was no Freddie (who is) but he won the crowd over and everyone went away happy. I preferred the first set with the early stuff, but some of the later songs in the second half (with their shorter hair and Freddie's moustache) were good as well. I wouldn't have gone normally, but this was work and l was getting paid for it, so it was a pretty marvelous night as far as l was concerned.

today's mood

Today's mood.  It's hot and l'm tired after my Liverpool shenanigans (and lots of walking during the day while there). However, l'm back to work at 3 o'clock. It'll be fine when l'm there, but the work fans will most definitely be on.

a lost tree

I don't know where this tree has come from, but it seems to be unsure about which direction it should follow now.

scotland versus brazil

Out of old habits l watched the defeat of Scotland versus Brazil last night and it was OK l guess, but still lacked the intensity of the old days and didn't captivate me much. Example number 1 from the old days. A picture l love. I've no great love for Graeme Souness (after all, he was a Liverpool player), but this is hilarious.
