bill shankly - a legend
There's no way I'm any way a fan of Liverpool football club, as they have caused me too much grief as a Manchester United fan (who was born in Liverpool) over the years, but a do respect talent and class such as Kenny Daglish, and this man - the great Bill Shankly, who was Liverpool manager up until 1974. He exuded class, commitment, working class community values, and a fervent belief in Socialism, and formed the great Liverpool side of the early 1970's in his own image. What a man.
Luckily we had been blessed with Sir Matt Busby, who was of very similar (if not identical) beliefs. Both titans of the game.

baby reindeer and a richard gadd mr logic put down
I absolutely loved the Netflix drama series 'Baby Reindeer' and have been encouraging everyone l know to check it out, despite (or maybe because of) how dark and dirty it got, and also despite the fact l myself have had a stalker. Both Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning were tremendous in it and it's more harrowing knowing it's based on real events. However, l also appreciate fantastic put downs, and this one by Jaygee on The Afterword site from when Richard Gadd was being interviewed on This Morning certainly me laugh. Well played sir.

robyn hitchcock - 1967 how l got there and why l never left
As a fan of Robyn Hitchcock (and The Soft Boys), I'm looking forward to his upcoming book '1967 Hoe I Got There and Why I Never Left'. I've only got a few of his musical releases, but l've always liked what he does and have been to see him live, and will be doing so again in September. His brand of whimsical psychedelia appeals to me, and he is coming from the same reference point as me regarding music. The book has a YouTube playlist to go with it, which can be found here. Check it (and him) out if unfamiliar with him. A Spotify playlist is here. Enjoy!

football - created up north
As modern football pulls further and further away from it's grassroots and history, (and Everton escape relegation) here's a reminder of how it all began.

labour pledges rail nationalisation
If Labour obtain power at the next election and actually do this, that would be great, as the profits could go back to the country rather than private exploitative profiteers, and hopefully bring the prices down. This could also be expanded to other privatised industries such as Water and Fuel, amongst others. However, what is to stop any future Conservative government just selling them of again like Margaret Thatcher (Milk Snatcher) did?
In the meantime - never vote Tory.

donald trump - the greatest american ever?
The answer, in one word, is no.
But it's a reminder that this is how some Americans view Donald Trump, who as far as l'm concerned, should be in jail. That's why America's in so much trouble at the moment, and if he gets into power again, it will reap a whole lot of damage both to America itself, and to the world at large.
john lennon - a spaniard in the works possible inspiration
Methinks John Lennon (or the photographer) leaned heavily on the Sandeman's Port advert for his 'A Spaniard In The Works' book, but on the other hand, l have been known to be wrong on occasion, so don't take this as Gospel.

the YouTube sale to Google
This is being flagged as though the people behind YouTube were foolish to sell it at the time, as it is making so much money now. On the other hand, they would not have known that at the time, and something unexpected may have come along to decimate its worth, like mobile phones did to landlines, or illegal downloading did to record sales. Also (and this is the main point), they were still really young, and got $1.65 BILLION. I repeat - BILLION. That is one hell of a lot of money to be enjoying the rest of your life with, and l wish l had that kind of wealth. There's no need to be too greedy - after all, how much money does a person need? Enjoy life when you're able to, as (back to the earlier point) you never know what's coming up in the future.

Flag draping knobheads, all of them. They probably vote Tory (or more right wing). I agree with Stormzy, it's dickheads like this that make people ashamed to be English or associated with the flag.

our insignificance
I've said it before and l will say it again. In the great scheme of things, we are all insignificant, so enjoy life and do whatever you want, as long as you don't harm others.
And never vote Tory!

my niece has turned out good
I've always included books as part of my niece's Birthday and Christmas presents, and encouraged them to get an education and expand their worlds and minds. Glad to say it's paid off, as here's one of them echoing one of my viewpoints. Hurrah!!
coventry were robbed
Despite being a Manchester United fan, Coventry deserved a 4-3 victory after their remarkable comeback from 3-0 down today, and in the olden days before VAR started fucking everything up, they would have had one. Clear and Obvious Error my arse!
Ah well, at least we now get to be stuffed by Manchester City in the final.

it was a cold night in April
I'm not saying the other night was the coldest ever, but it was certainly a bit nippy. It's meant to be more or less summertime FFS! About time the rain buggered off as well. Normally by this time of the year I'd have started wearing shorts to work, so at least my co-workers are spared that sight (for now).

keneth clarke becoming decent
I remember the days when Kenneth Clarke used to be one of the bad guys, yet with the government we are lumbered with at the moment, he is standing out as one of the reasonable voices amongst the baying, ignorant, cruel, lying, right wing nut jobs that have infiltrated The Conservative party and who will stoop to any level to stay in power (for whatever short time they have left).
Never vote Tory.
Toodle pipI've gained conservative top fan perks
his shows how skewed algorithms on Facebook and social media can be. Whenever an article from The Conservative Party has popped up on my Facebook feed ( more frequently recently as they are ploughing a lot more money into it), I've always responded with 'Fuck off you Tory Twats'. However, because this is classed as engaging with them, the algorithm shows l must be a fan, when nothing can be further from the truth.
As I've stated many times - Never vote Tory.
when festivals used to be good - stonehenge 1982
Before the festivals were taken over by the straights and middle class (and rich glampers) they used to be alternative events for the freaks and alternate members of society, with marvellous stores such as this, from Stonehenge Free Festival 1982. Sulphate and acid for me please!

another normal day on the road to full fascist with laura trott
I've argued for ages that The Conservatives are lurching more and more to the far right of their party, and would turn full fascist if they had the chance, with undermining and overruling The Supreme Court, leaving the ECHR, voter suppression and outlawing protests at the top of their lists (and still ongoing). Once they are hopefully trounced at the next election, l can envisage them being much worse, influenced heavily by the IEA and the Tufton Street brigade, welcoming back the likes of Truss and Braverman, with Farage following (or appearing first). Replies like this do little to dissuade me.
Never vote Tory.

another desirable record - status quo 'hello'
If only l had more money (and a bigger house). I only discovered this record today, and now it's on my wants list. A promotional copy of Status Quo's 'Hello' album, with a lighter cover. I'm salivating as l type.
Toodle pipnick boles on angela rayner in the times
My loathing of The Conservative party is well known, but even l have to show some respect when they do the right thing. This letter in The Times from ex Conservative MP Nick Boles supporting Angela Rayner certainly fits that description. If only more of them where as honourable.
But never vote Tory.

why l won't live in australia
This picture is from a video of an infestation of spiders in someone's room in Australia. The left side of the room was a lot worse, but this is enough to freak me out. I'd have to burn the house down and start again somewhere else.

This still bugs me. The top and bottom are both the same colour, but your eyes and brain tell you otherwise. Don't believe me? Cover up the white part in the middle. And there you go.
I blame God.
