Jim Capaldi - Low Rider

Bought a cheap second hand copy of the Jim Capaldi album that this is from (Whale Meat Again) on a whim on Monday, and I'm loving it.  Now I'm going to have to look out for more.  The collecting never stops!

we are all insignificant

Always remember, our pitiful short lives are insignificant in the great scheme of things, so do what you want, try and be happy, don't worry about the little people, and try not to harm anyone else.

And on a related note, here's Earth form Mars.

shania mcdonagh art

Ahyper realistic pencil drawing by the rather talented sixteen year old artist, Shania McDonagh.  Colour me impressed.

More of her artwork can be found here.

fascisms not that far away

Support the strikers, cut the extortionate profits, and never trust the Tories, especially now they are becoming even more right wing.

Makes you proud to live in this glorious land  A man (it's always a man) has been fined for pretending to be a ghost in Portsmouth. 'Arms on the air and saying Woooo'.  Excellent stuff.

anthony norcia artwork

This artwork by Anthony Norcia has sixteen circles hidden in it.  It took me a while, but once seen, they're so easy to spot you kick yourself for not seeing them sooner.

With thanxs to Colin Steer on twitter

cat ecstatic to be reunited with owner

After ten years apart, Chubs, a cat from Dorset was reunited with its owner after being found 260 miles away in Manchester.  Typically for a cat, it looks ecstatic.

From today's BBC website.

liz truss - probably our next glorious leader

Oh please fuck off Liz.  She's got strong opinions, but as she's shown in the past, she's willing to completely change them if it means she can gain power. She's currently a Poundshop Thatcher with added racism and stupidity, but it's not good for the country that democracy is so under threat.

The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses Live at Knebworth 1976

the halifax oyster festival mascots

Quite possibly the scariest mascots going, supposedly promoting The Halifax Oyster Festival, but probably scaring away more people than they attract.

Then again, they're bound to be featured on TV and in newspaper items, and l'm flagging them up here, so l guess they are doing their job of promoting the festival brilliantly.

the strolling bones

I didn't go to see The Rolling Stones on their 1989 tour as l'd seen them before, and wanted to remember them that way, and thought they were a bunch of old bastards by then (as did Q Magazine).

Ladies and Gentlemen (and anyone else), on the 1989 tour, Mick and Keith were both 45, and Ronnie was 41.  FFS!!  I think made an error.

Beans on Toast - A Whole Lot of Loving and live in Stockton

Another excellent night out last night, watching Beans on Toast plus others in Stockton's NE Volume Music Bar, which is a great little venue, and highly recommended. Here's there again in September and l'll be along for that as well.

Olivia Rodrigo - Live at Eventim Apollo London. July 7 2022

I can't say l know much about Olivia Rodrigo, but the full throated singing along by the crowd is something to be witnessed and heard.  Audience participation at it's best, and the songs obviously mean so much to them, it makes me want to check out the 'Sour' album, as l'm a curious kind of chap.
Plus this reminds me of seeing Big Country at Newcastle City hall back in the day!

fleetwood mac rumours outtakes

Much as love punk rock, noisy psychedelia and lots of underground music, l have to admit that Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is one hell of an album, and deservedly sold in the bucket loads. Then again, l do also like a lot of other Fleetwood Mac stuff so it's not that much of a stretch. Anyway, here's some photographic outtakes from the cover shoot. By the no more British sounding Herbert Worthington
