The joke that Ringo was not even the best drummer in the Beatles (said by John), was just that, a joke. He suited them really well and grew with them all as they started to experiment more (although he was older and didn't do much drugs). As a tribute to Ringo, who was 70 a couple of days ago, here's a clip of someone mimicking the drumming on 'Rain'. Marvellous stuff - flash, but not too flash.
