13 years of labour

A rundown of what the Labour government achieved in 13 years between 1997 and 2010.  The Conservatives have been in power for 12 years since then, and have done what?  Got Brexit done?  Hardly a rip roaring success. As for Iraq, it certainly looks like a mistake, and all governments can make them, and can be economical with the truth (playing down blatant lying here) to achieve their aims, but the current mob of self serving charlatans are taking things to a level never seen before, while also chipping away at democracy. Bastards!!

RIP Stinger

Another lad gone way too early, known him on and off since he was 14.

The funeral was today, and for the first time in years, l had a kebab at the end of the night, as it seemed like a good idea at the time.  Which reminds me of this

This is from an excellent twitter account for Chaotic Nightclub Photos, but it took me a while to see what was going on. Once seen, you can't miss it.  Answer at the bottom of the photo if you can't work it out.

Look at the guilty looking woman in the middle, and check out the lipstick smudges on the two guys next to her.

Love - a band from the 60's and charlie brown

This appeals to me on so many levels. One of which is, there are many ongoing jokes amongst myself and friends, including saying 'They were a rock group from the 60's who did 'My Generation' whenever someone says 'who'?   Plus l used to love the Peanuts books when l was younger, and still love the band Love now.
I should get it made into a t-shirt.

the bastard tory government part 876 care homes put at risk

Once gain the government are sown to be a bunch of lying self serving hypocrites as they were found guilty in The High Court today of failing to protect Care homes at the start of the pandemic, releasing people back into care from hospital when they had Covid.  They also failed to provide enough PPE, probably because they were giving contracts to mates and party donners who couldn't provide them - billions of pounds worth of fraud that has been written off by dishy Rishi Sunak.

Plus, don't forget the amount of times the tory ministers, (especially Matt Hancock) said they put a 'Protective ring' around the care homes. As someone who has worked in care homes for  over 25 years, that was complete bullshit, and anyone who said otherwise should be ashamed of themselves and resign from their posts immediately (as if that is ever going to happen).

the daily mail ffs - read the room

The Daily Mail is one of the most odious newspapers in the UK, but you'd have liked to have thought even they wouldn't try and defend their misogynistic and sexist headlines about Angela Raynor, but nothing really surprises me about their coverage at any time, plus it's probably been put forward as a story to deflect from the partygate fines and Boris Johnson not resigning for misleading the house

Bunch of right wing bastards.  Rather like The Sun, don't buy it.

In related news, here's The New European's take on it.  Buy that paper.

liverpool fans, tories, and my old school

I'm in no way a fan of Liverpool football club, but l do love the city and it's hatred of Tories, as exemplified here. Probably helps that l'm a Scouser.

Got to give respect where it's due, and in related news, l hope Everton stay up, despite the fact they are awful at the moment, as they were so nearly the team l grew up supporting, and l still have a soft spot for them.

In other related news, you can see my old school in this picture from the 1960's, which l assume was taken from the top of Johnson's dry cleaning factory in Bootle

Thank fuck for that!  President Macron has won the French election, but it is certainly a worry that 42% voted for the right wing Russian backed fascist Le Pen (please stop calling her populist) and 28% couldn't be bothered to vote, despite what was at stake.

andy burnham and train prices, plus the nhs

These are prices to purchase return flights to somewhere exotic, or get a return fare from Manchester to London by rail (not so exotic). It's a fucking disgrace and the profit making bastards who run these rail franchises and are making huge amount of money should be held to account and taxed vigorously, as well as many other firms.
Then again, they were sold off by The Tories to private companies who want to maximise profits, so what did we expect? Altruism?
Next up - The NHS (although that is already underway).

john lennon's tie and photocopied face

John Lennon was a musical genius and a mixed up troubled guy, but one of the reasons l respected him, was that he was prepared to admit his mistakes, and he certainly stayed true to what he loved, whether that was Elvis Presley, Rock and Roll music, or his old school tie. Check out the pictures from his schooldays and just before he was assassinated in 1980.
And yes, it is the same tie.

Also....Here's his photocopied face from 1974

the hindenburg over new york

Everybody has seen the pictures of The Hindenburg bursting into flames on May 6th 1937, but in a way, l kind of find this picture more poignant, as it passes over New York's Manhattan Island just before landing, knowing everyone was still alive and probably loving the views just before docking. I've got a radio recording by Herbert Morrison from when it attempted to land, and it is one of the most emotional news reports l have ever heard, as it was just so unexpected, and he certainly captured the horror of the occasion ("Oh the humanity").
Only (Only!) 37 people died, but the significance and shock echoed around the world.
It shows you never know what the future holds, so enjoy life now.

Joy Division and Jamie Vardy

I was drinking in one of my local pubs a week or so ago (Hello The Holly) and there was a guy in there who looked just like Ian Curtis from Joy Division. which reminded me - so does Jamie Vardy of Leicester City. Here is Jamie when he was 23, and riddle me this, have you ever seen them in the same room?
I know that makes no sense as it's not a riddle and because of the age difference / time scale, but it amuses me.

boris johnson on word search, plus a handy guide

Now l'm not the kind of person who would just post things about Boris Johnson because l want to be proven right about how he has never been fit for office, is a lying manipulative nasty piece of work who is funded by the Russians and trying to destroy democracy and the UK's influence in World affairs, just to gain more power for himself and his nasty little bunch of lickspittles (who he will ditch at the earliest opportunity), but l do enjoy these kind of things featured below.

OK, I'm lying. I love to be proven right, and will continue to be chuffed l've always called him out as the twat that he is.

Enjoyed The Gang of Youths show at The Riverside last night, but l'm not that keen on the venue.  It's difficult getting a drink, the toilets are upstairs, and you have to squeeze past the crowd to get up there, and you can't see much at the back. Nothing like the original Riverside which was a great little venue, and sadly missed.
