serbia and brazil - some good news at last!!

A couple of excellent results for sanity gaining power. Fingers crossed for America next.

And as sure as night follows day......

me after watching manchester united yesterday, and henry winter nails it

Another crappy performance which wasn't really unexpected. Much as l admire Michael Carrick, I'd imagine Eddie Howe is putting petrol in his car ready for a journey to Manchester.

never forget who the tories are

With the rise of Reform, it's easy to forget how nasty the Tory party were. As with Reform, trying to benefit the rich and their mates, just slightly less right wing and racist. It's always the poor in our society that bears the brunt of their policies.

watching a deep purple documentary - with george best

Another thing about the Deep Purple documentary. I didn't realise George Best was a fan back in the day and there was footage of him at a concert (looking pretty cool) and an interview with him about the band and his love for them (looking not as cool). Childhood heroes all of them.

Here's George watching them.

And here's George being interviewed about them.

watching a deep purple documentary

I've just been watching a Deep Purple documentary and foolishly thought about going to see them in Newcastle with a VIP package to meet them as well. Cost? £305.25, and that's without meeting Ian Gillan, who (let's face it )is the person most fans would want to meet at these shows. I soon changed my mind and will be staying at home instead, washing my hair.

another iconic photograph from the french protests

how did someone manage to get a picture of my living room today?

I obviously won't be watching the Liverpool game. I'll probably be cursing watching Manchester United on the dodgy stick.

nationwide cutting jobs

Well this is bad news if you are being let go and have a family to support. I'm sure the losses will be across all the workers, at whatever level.

And in completely unrelated news....

mrs melinda trump - usa's new peace deal co-ordinator between ukraine and russia

The state of the world today.  If Mrs Trump sorting out Ukraine / Russian peace deals, l'm a tomato. She may well be offering 'deals' involving money being exchanged, but this would have nothing to do with peace talks. Also, no mention of Pope Leo who was coincidentally brokering ceasefire talks and the return of hostages just prior to this (and ongoing). I really don't care - do u?

reform's unstoppable march towards westminister

I'm all in favour of this, but who are the mad as fuck 24% still thinking of voting for The Conservatives?

art spiegelman - 'too lazy' to redo the 'in the shadow of no towers' book

I doff my cap regarding Art Spiegelman, as he is a comic genius, and the Maus graphic novels are possibly the greatest of all time. However, admitting on the re-release of his 'In the Shadow of No Towers' book that he didn't redo the cover (that was done in collaboration with his wife, Francoise Mouly) and used AI as he was 'too lazy' is sacrilege.  I think l will stick to my (oversized) original then, as l'm too lazy to go hunting for the new copy if he can't be bothered doing the work. After all, it's only the cover and size of the book that's changed, so if he's not doing the cover, what's the point of me purchasing another copy of it.? Grrrrrrrrr.  He's still a genius though, so go and buy his work (especially Maus)

the meghan markle media frenzy

Whether you like her or not, or indeed have no opinion of her, this old coldwarsteve picture sums up what's being repeated again. Another media frenzy over Meghan Markle, while people much more deserving of inquisitive press attention are hardly spoken about.

andy burnham trying to sort out smaller gripes

There's been much picking and sniping at Andy Burnham in the press and TV about some of his governments smaller policies, but he sums it up well here. It's not an either / or situation whereby he's only doing something small, he's trying to sort out a lot of problems (left by the Tories) and he's right, these small things do matter, and his changes will help all. Apart that is from the people running car parks etc who are trying to rip the public off.

the font that links david bowie, gordon giltrap and iron maiden.

This was pointed out at the start of the latest 'Rockonteurs' podcast by Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt, but l'd certainly never noticed it before. The font (first used by David Bowie) is the same as used by Gordon Giltrap and Iron Maiden. Origin of the font currently unknown, although it's known as 'Busk'. Just the sort of useless information that l love and live for. Well played lads.

john goodman has lost a hell of lot of weight

I was staggered to see recent photographs of (the very fine actor) John Goodman, as he has lost a hell of a lot of weight and now looks completely different, and good luck to him for doing so. Once again (although it doesn't happen often) my flabber is gasted. Well played sir.
