two days off work - todays mood

jonathan livingston seagull - richard bach
I saw a picture of this book cover a couple of days ago, and was immediately transported back to my younger self, reading it for the first time and being blown away by it. I may have to dig it out and re-read it in the next few days. Hippie writing at it's finest, and l remember reading a few ore of his over the years. Hopefully l've kept them all together.

dealing with the leeds defeat
How my night progressed after the Leeds defeat. Rolling Stones bootlegs and two bottles of red wine helped ease the pain (plus some smoked sausage and cheese).

I didn't like Bob Harris much presenting the OGWT as l thought he was an old hippie and out of touch, especially after his lame dismissal of The New York Dolls. That may well have been true but l've warmed to him over the years and he loved Marc Bolan and David Bowie, so that gets a pass from me . You get older, and hopefully you realise not everything is black or white. He is, after all, one of the good guys, and a genuine fan of music. Live long and prosper Bob.
united lose against dirty leeds and the southport rioter
After the Manchester United defeat to Dirty Leeds l need a bit of light relief (fnaaar). So.....I'm pretty sure l've put this up before but can't be bothered to look. How a life can turn to crap in a short amount of time. The Southport rioter who took a brick to the head and bollocks in quick succession was shortly afterwards jailed (in 2024). I'm old enough to remember seeing this at the time and it was hilarious. Hope he is a Leeds United fan. Maybe there is a God after all.

baby fae and the baboon heart (and paul simon)
Listening to Paul Simon's 'The Boy in the Bubble' reminded e of 'Baby Fae' and the baboon heart transplant, which of course led to other reading and kept me out of mischief for a short while. Science can certainly be amazing, and l'm speaking as someone who's had two pacemakers (not at the same time) which help keep me indestructible.
