throwing a rock through paul mccartney's window
David Hepworth in The Guardian has reviewed Daniel Rachel's new book on The Beatles, which sounds interesting, but straight away annoyed me with inaccuracies about John Lennon's ability to throw a rock through Paul McCartney's window.
He quotes from the book...
In one passage the author wonders whether John really could have thrown a brick the 75 metres (246ft) it would have taken to break the front window of Paul’s home in St John’s Wood.
Now I admit l haven't measured the distance, but even my puny arms could manage that.
These kind of mistakes annoy me so much, so I'll probably give the book a miss.

wayne hussey - heady daze (the mission years 1985-1990)
As a big fan of The Mission back in these years, l thought this book would be of interest to me, and l wasn't wrong. Plenty of sex, drugs, and rock and roll involved, so what's not to like? Also, Mr Huss is a fine storyteller (from what he remembers) and obviously bright, interested in other things apart from music, and l really liked his writing style. If you like The Mission, this comes highly recommended.
I wasn't that bothered before about reading his previous book (Salad Days),but after reading this, l'm going to give it a go. I shall report back at some stage on that.
It could have done with some proofreading though.

the latest pile of second hand records
The latest haul of second hand records from Tuesday. A couple l've got already (Glen Campbell and The Blues Band), but these are better copies. I definitely need a bigger house (or to see a psychiatrist).
