There's an interesting article by Raoul Peck about how George Orwell's relationship with his nanny when he was a child affected his outlook on life and how modern manipulation of the news and doublespeak is taking place and shaping our view of events in the present, which l highly recommend.  My friends say l'm the least racist person they know (what an accolade!) but as a child l lived in Kenya and Singapore (as well as other places) so grew up among different races and cultures.  I remember having a white pair of sunglasses similar to these which  l lost on a wild night out in Amsterdam. I'm still gutted about the loss and have been keeping looking for another pair ever since (very slowly and half heartedly). Marianne Faithfull looks better in hers but she was younger than me when she wore these. That's my excuse and l'm sticking to it.
