a knives out mystery - wake up dead man
How have l missed these films in the past? 'Wake Up Dead Man' is top notch film making and an unexpected (to me at least) delight. I saw a couple of minutes of one of them a few years ago with Daniel Craig in a pool talking in a funny accent but it never appealed to me at the time, but after watching this l went back and binged the earlier ones. All superbly executed and acted, and l have since ordered the DVD of 'Brick', the first of writer / director Rian Johnson's offerings. Very well played to all, and more as soon as possible please.

ffs labour - get a grip
It's one thing being coy and evading questions on Venezuela (although they should condemn it), but Greenland? FFS It's time Labour showed some backbone. This is not a difficult answer to give, and if it is they don't deserve to be in power (and l'm a Labour supporter).*

here we go again... ruben amorim has gone
Here we go again. Another manager gone, this time it's Ruben Amorim, lasting for 14 months, and of course just as we are starting to see signs of improvement and the football was improving. He still hasn't had a full season, the squad is rubbish, and we reached a European final last year, despite him coming in half way through the season when he didn't want to (probably because of this scenario). Yes there have been some awful games, but this is easily our best spell and we've had some great results against some top teams, and better performances and fighting for the team / showing team spirit have been there recently, plus a week to prepare for games and improve tactics and set pieces with all the squad back was an option for the second half of this season, with the belief growing (slowly l'll admit). No one benefits from the constant chopping and changing, and it undermines each manager as players know they might not be there for the long run, so if players decide not to put a shift in there are less consequences. I'd at least given Ruben till the end of the season and access it then. This however, is crap, but he's obviously had a falling out with someone at the club questioning him recently.

nigel farage as two faced as ever part 565565655
I'm old enough to remember the Brexit he pushed for was about 'sovereignty / taking back control / not being ruled by leaders we didn't appoint" What a spineless money grabbing lying racist twat he is.

james o'brien and injun making me consider going vegetarian
I'm a fan of James O'Brien and l also like eating chicken, but despite the fact l know that they are obviously killed so that l can eat them, this praise for the food outlet hits home more in that it highlights a chicken will be killed just for me, and l would not be able to go into a shop and request that, and l am not having a go at the shop or James (as l know him). I was pretty much vegetarian years ago apart from KFC (yes - l know!) but l may well head in that direction again at some stage as this has given me something to think about. Then again, drink has been taken (Bailey's if you must know) so l may change my mind again tomorrow, and it also looks so nice.
marc bolan at the honky chateau
This page featuring the late great Marc Bolan is from Music Scene magazine dated January 1st 1973, and it would make a great lp cover (minus the small writing). Somebody please sort it out. Merci Beaucoup!

at least us manchester united fans can still have fun
Sometimes, especially in these times, you've got to make your own fun and just try to enjoy life. It also helps if you try and ignore some of the crap football.

nicolas maduro removed by the usa
Apparently Nicolas Maduro has been removed from Venezuela by American troops. Another reminder that on Thursday he was agreeing to concessions and talks with the USA. Obviously this is not about him or the drugs, it's the oil and American influence, led by Trumps madness. Maduro is a twat, but let's not try to justify the American actions here. Imagine if Brazil, Mexico, Chile or any other South American country suddenly bombed the USA and removed Trump. Then again....Fingers crossed!

hurrah! zohran mamdani sworn in
Whatever side of the political spectrum you are aligned with, Zohran Mamdini is the sort of politician we so desperately need, both in the USA and the wider world, being gracious after winning, and offering hope and compassion, rather than hatred and division. There's been a lot of the latter in 2025, so let's cross our fingers for more of the former in 2026. Hopefully, as the great master himself Bob Dylan sang, The Times are a Changing (again). Otherwise we could be fucked.
missing old school football part 5364563563563 - tiny tom wharton
This referee would never pass a fitness test nowadays, but it's sad that these kinds of characters have disappeared from the game. The mighty (in more ways than one) 'Tiny' Tom Wharton, seen here admonishing an attentive Alan Ball. I can recall the smell of marmite and possible violence in the air even now.

Well what a Christmas and New Year that was. The blog has passed a million readers, and although l had thought about packing it in when it did that, l'm going to crack on with the nonsense. As my boss always tells me - onwards and upwards!
