I had a drive out to sunny to Middlesbrough to drop off a couple of pressies for Hannah (my friends daughter) early this evening as it is her Birthday today. Of course l didn't say in advance l was coming and they weren't in when l arrived, but obviously l left them behind and glad to say Hannah looks happy with them. 11 years old already - how time flies (like the great pumpkin).

Much as l love T. Rex's 'Electric Warrior' and 'The Slider', I've probably played this record more times than any other in my collection, and it still gets a regular airing. It's also a very cool picture of Marc Bolan on the back, looking exactly how rock / pop stars should look.

a photo that takes me back to the good / bad old days

Although l haven't found solace in the arms of Our Saviour, obviously nowadays l'm a fine upstanding citizen and forsake the evil temptations of Beelzebub, but photographs like this take me back to my hedonistic youth many many years ago, listening to top tunes that sound great on psychedelics. The year on crack was a particular highlight. Just say no kids.

Mind you, l've got another Hamburg trip shortly, so.......... I'm sure my mates will keep me on the righteous path.

Once again Trump backs Netanyahu when he should be holding him to account. Another peace plan put together with the occupying war mongering side, which is bound to fail, the same as the peace deal with Russia that didn't involve Ukraine. Face consequences? What more could the Palestinians in Gaza suffer after the relentless bombings, targeting and killings of civilians, their land and amenities being obliterated, and then being starved? Of course! How foolish of me! I had foolishly forgotten they both want to clear and flatten Gaza completely so it can then be rebuilt into an Israel / Trump mega resort by the sea. remember - this is genocide and people (especially Netanyahu) should be held accountable and put on trial. Of course Trump is trying to dismantle the structures in place that would enable such a trial, but that is another story. Enjoy the rest of your day.

As the majority of recent talks have been around settled immigration and the tough new conditions that may be imposed, The Times uses a photograph of immigrants crossing on a small boat to represent the story, therefore targeting all immigrants to be looked at this way, and stirring up ore hatred towards them. They know what they are doing with this, and who they are appealing to. The ill informed who think that most 'illegals' come here in small boats, when it's less than 4%.

It pains me to say it, but here's another media organisation bowing to Trump, rather than standing up to him. I'm old enough to remember the January 6th insurrection orchestrated by Trump and the heightened tensions at the time, not helped by Trump's inflammatory lies and rhetoric, which is why he was banned in the first place. A move that was praised by any right thinking person. Another (not so small these days) step towards fascism.

Although l'm a Manchester United fan, l'm pleased Manchester City have started to regain some form, as l've had Pep Guardiola (their manager) moping around my house recently and getting under my feet. He has now buggered off but here's a quick portrait l slapped together a couple of weeks ago of him in hogging my favourite chair*

upstart crow - it's very good indeed!

One of the bonuses of being off work recently was having time to catch up with books, films and TV shows, one of which was 'Upstart Crow' a comedy starring David Mitchell as William Shakespeare. I'd previously caught bits of it over the years and was never that impressed with it, but I then watched a full episode when off and decided to give the first series a go, and l'm very pleased l did, despite being very late to the party, as it was very good indeed. The writing was especially excellent (by Ben Elton) and there was an obvious link to 'Black Adder' (and even 'The Young Ones), but it certainly stood on its own with the Shakespearian timeline and history, but making it accessible to proles such as l. The last episode of series 3 even bought a tear to my eye. Recommended.

I grew up loving these books, and subconsciously, the liberal attitudes towards race must have affected me. Mind you, living in Africa and Singapore probably helped as well. Anyway, it's just a great pity that Donald Trump has probably never read a book in his life, (including his own) as he maybe wouldn't be such an ignorant twat if he had. Also, to give Nigel Farage credit for a change, l think he has read books and is not a stupid man, but that just makes his statements and hate stirring even more contemptuous and nasty. Anything for money, including (possibly mainly) Russian.
