wendy erskine's the benefactors

I'll put up another list of recent books l've read soon, but there's special praise for this one. Wendy Erskine's 'The Benefactors', which was superb, and one of the best books l've read for a while. It makes you reconsider your own views, and when finished, made me want to read it again as l would understand more about the characters the second time around. An outstanding debut, and l will be looking out for more from her in the future. Money that was very well spent (for a change).

Now l love The New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders, and this is how rock stars should look - ridiculous and other worldly, and not looking like 'normal' members of society. They live the rock and roll lifestyle outside of the law and with very few rules that others would love to live, but are unable to (or wouldn't want to). I've had a fair crack of it in my own way, but living like it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week takes (funnily enough) a lot of commitment and hard work. No wonder so many of them turn to drugs.

One in and one back with the small boats crossings is a start, and at least we are now working in conjunction with the French. However, l didn't see much coverage around what has been well known for anyone who is not blinkered by the so called benefits of Brexit, President Macron in his speech confirms the crossings increased after Brexit. The usual right wing rags were very silent on that statement.

Flitting around the internet, l stumbled upon this. I'm not sure, but this may be one of my recordings from when l was a bootlegger back in the day. I sold all of my tapes to an American years ago but made some copies for myself of the better ones (or favourite concerts). I'll have to check if l saved this. However, my Birmingham recording on June 3rd from the same tour was the best of the lot, and sounded like a normal well recorded live album (in stereo). I even impressed myself with it.

This - All day long. There's plenty of money knocking about, but the majority of it is in the hands of the few. This is why we need a decent form of Socialism and empathy and equality for people worse off than ourselves. As for Capitalism, Austerity, Populism, Division through hatred, plus Trickle Down Economics, they can all fuck off. I've no problem with some people making a bit more money if they want to work harder and put extra hours in, but we need plumbers and electricians (as well as lots of so called 'menial jobs') as much as (and if not more) than we need bankers and CEOs. As for shareholders taking the piss in privatised companies - don't get me started.
