razorlight and the human league at darlington arena
This line up looks like it could be a fun day out, and pretty cheap at less than £50. I'm not that bothered about Razorlight, but wouldn't mind seeing some of the others, especially White Lies. I wouldn't mind seeing The Human League the next day, but don't really care about the support bands (apart from The Farm and The Christians). I'll have to get my PA to sort out tickets and transport, and start praying it doesn't piss down.

local pub re-opens - hurrah!!
There is a God after all!! My local pub is no longer for sale and is re-opening this Friday at 2pm, exactly the time l finish work for the weekend. That's my weekend taken care of, and it's going to get messy. I may even finish work slightly early and try and be the first customer in (because that's how l roll).

gorden banks the number one goalkeeper and dog catcher
If you were in any doubt that Gordon Banks was the best goalkeeper in the world in the late 1960's / early 1970's (look up his save from Pele in 1970), here he is catching a runaway dog during a Leicester City versus Manchester United match in November 1965. Now that takes some doing.
Toodle pipthe country in crisis - £100 away from disaster
If this is the case, and l have no reason to doubt that it is not, having been in that situation in the past, then the wealth of the country needs redistributing in another way. Taxing the rich and major companies would certainly be a start.

elon musk totally off his face in the white house
There's film of this (have a quick google) that is better but Musk is obviously completely off his face on drugs (more than usual) in The White House, trying desperately to keep it together while Donald Trump is talking, and they have the cheek to go on about Joe Biden's mental decline. Tesla should be sending him to rehab, and the mothers of his children should be keeping a close eye when he visits. I've nothing against drugs and think they should all be legalised (and support offered for people with drug problems), but not at work ffs. Trump's presidency has normalised outrageous and illegal behaviour to such an extent that this will barely be mentioned in the press and on TV, and things are probably only going to get worse.

a healthy breakfast
After a splendid gig by PIL last night, I woke to find l have no bread in the house, so this is breakfast, as l can't be bothered driving to the shops. How l'm not dead yet is a modern miracle.

robert jenrick - a reminder
As Robert Jenrick tries to gain publicity for his Conservative party leadership challenge by targeting fare dodgers on the London Underground, here's a reminder of some of his past exploits.

paul weller's dodgy white shorts
I am happy to acknowledge that Paul Weller has kept himself in fine shape and has obviously been hitting the gym a lot rather than just heading to the pub (unlike me). However - those white shorts are a bit suspect.

The BBC with the 'one in a billion round egg' story which would be a remarkable news item if it wasn't for the fact they've featured other round egg stories recently.

youngsters are now grandparents - star wars 1977
Think on it. These fresh faced youngsters queuing up for the first Star Wars film in 1977 are now grandparents and retirees (or dead), and yet in a way, this feels like yesterday. Time is heartless.

the liverpool title parade carnage
This is bad - very bad, and l feel for the victims. However, it's also a sad state of affairs that l am pleased (probably the wrong word to use) the driver was a white male, as you can just imagine the destruction, hatred and violence that would follow if he was a refugee or Muslim, because social media would go into racist hate filled overload immediately.

the observer - is the world committing suicide?
This is from 50 years ago, but with Trump, Reform, the rise of the far right, genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, climate change, and fake news and social media stoking up hatred and division, it's just as relevant today (sadly).

the large bus to richmond
I met my mates on the prearranged bus journey to Richmond yesterday, and it was the first time I have been on a bus for years, as l am not a bus wanker. Towards the end of the night, we luckily bumped into another mate who gave us a lift home in his car, which was a fine result and saved us extortionate taxi fares. However, four of us were crammed into his car (plus the driver), which drives on the same space as a bus, which had this much space. How does this work?
