robert redford's hair

What the hell is he thinking going out and about with hair like that? There is no way it is real, so at some stage, he must have chosen the colour and look, checked himself in his (obviously distorted) mirror and said to himself "My, you've still got it, you handsome old cad". Somebody should have a quiet word in his ear about this, and if he doesn't listen, a very loud word. It's for his own good. Time waits for no man, but lets not be ridiculous, he can still see a reflection (but may not listen to dissenting voices).

ageing photographs - from young to old comparrisons

I can't remember where l got these photographs from but they show the ageing process in all it's wonderful, unstoppable glory.
Luckily l still don't look a day over 21 (although that could have something to do with my cataracts and senility).

millers crossing

It's funny how the memory can be so hit and miss. I have just watched this again and bits of it slowly came back to me as it was going along. I was sure l had seen the film before (which might have been 20 years ago), but could not remember anything about it. As it went on, l had sudden bursts of memory returning, so l knew it had something to do with woods, then someone not getting shot, but that was about it. Basically, Tom Reagan (Gabriel Byrne) is working with a crime boss played by Albert Finney, but also knocking off his woman. They then fall out over it, so Tom goes off to work for the rival crime boss, with twists and turns along the way. Good film, but l am probably going senile.

johnny cash and kid rock

I've been watching videos on You Tube, and these two are just outstanding, it's what 'Rock n Roll' is all about.
Shame l am back to work tomorrow or l'd be out partying (he said sadly, sitting in front of a computer at 10.50pm on a Friday night). Who am l kidding? With my aching back, dodgy knees and stop/start heart? Time to retire methinks.

Or.......

Carry on regardless once my back has recovered properly.
I think l know the answer in advance.

l am a cripple

I went out on Monday for the usual (when l get the chance) trip to the Wine bar to see Joe, and had a splendid time. I got picked up by the FPO afterwards, and also remembered to drop off some DVDs for Shaun and Paul (or is it Peter?). All well and good so far, but l then proceeded to prat about, pretending to faint or fall, and ended up hurting my back. It feels like l have pulled a muscle or something in my lower back, and l suppose it serves me right, but it is pretty damn sore. l am walking round like l have shit my pants (no change there then), but at least l got a day off work today (sadly l was already off work when l did it). lt does not hurt as much as when l pulled it years ago playing football, as l can pull my own shorts up (a bonus for the FPO), but moving and sleeping is pretty painful. I am aiming to be back at work for the weekend, so sadly it is not a long term illness. The worst thing is l can't really go out anywhere as l don't want to make it worse and l don't like moving about too much due to the pain. Maybe l should just hit what's left of the valium and go for it. It's not easy being a prat.

stings dye

As l am pissed off about not winning any money with my World Cup bets, l am about to dye my hair and leave this sacred lsle incognito. Rather sadly though, l think Sting has had the same idea, The unshaven photo is from a week (or so) ago. The bearded older one has been his look recently.
Good luck to the poor little chapie and l hope he escapes.

work till you're dead

An old person (the FPO's mother?) - yesterday

Those wacky coalition representatives eh? First they are sharing power and pretending that they all get on, and now they are talking about making everyone work until they are 70. What a bunch of bastards. All the rich fuckers are going to retire early anyway, it's just us poor buggers that will have to work longer, people who are probably dying (literally) to finish work, and have probably had jobs that were (or are) more physically demanding over the years.
Why stop at 70 anyway? Look inside an old folks home and you will find loads of layabouts and malingerers that could be putting in a decent shift down the coal mine (if there were any still open). Bunch of slack limbed reprobates, get them out to work I say. If not, shoot them. That would save on the old pension payments. I may have to think this one through and come up with a master-plan.
I'll get back to this in the future

finished for the weekend - hit the hammock

Hurrah! l have finished work today and have no more until 2pm on Tuesday, although l may go in on Sunday evening for a couple of hours or so to help out.
Finished at 2pm today and then cycled home in the blazing sunshine. When the weather is hot and sunny and you are on your way home, it certainly lifts your spirits, and makes my tiny little legs pump that little bit harder (like my arse). Sat on the hammock listening to my ipod and reading, then had a meal outside in the garden, with the rabbits running around when the FPO arrived home. Dragged myself off for a bath afterwards, and have just finished watching the recordings of the Argentina win and France defeat. Also watched Eddie Izzard live from San Francisco, which l thought was Ok and had some good moments, but the FPO disagreed. Then again, what does she know? After all, l'm the comedy genius around these parts.
Hope it's sunny again tomorrow, we have visitors (damn!!!!) and the footie is on ("Come on Ingerlaand!") Another disaster probably awaits.

things that make you feel old - part 245

Sinead O'Connor nowadays, plus the fact that Jet Black from the Stranglers is now 71. Punks not dead (yet!)
