the new bob dylan live 1966 box set, and neil innes - protest song - plus hancock and oasis!

Well l have a pretty good idea what l will be listening to over this Christmas - the new Bob Dylan box set of the 1966 tour. A mere 36 discs. I've already got the bootleg box set of Dylan's Genuine Live 1966, which is a mere 8 cds, so, rather sadly, l am really looking forward to this.

Here's the bootleg version l already have (not my copy)

And here's the new official version

All of this after the massive Cutting Edge box set last year.
I really need to get a life.

In the meantime- here's a protest song by Neil Innes, live on Rutland Weekend Television. The man who was plagiarised by Oasis. Check out 'How Sweet To Be An Idiot' by Innes, and compare it to Oasis' 'Whatever'.
I rest my case your honour "Did Magna Carta die in vain" etc...

hans and eva rausing, and the law being equal

So, Eva Rausing's husband has been charged with delaying her funeral, after her body was discovered in their Belgravia home, with police thinking she had been dead for a week (after he was stopped driving allegedly under the influence of drink or drugs). The death is being classed as 'unexplained', as a post mortem failed to find a formal cause.  The couple were multi millionaires who donated a lot of money to drug charities, and were obviously addicted to drugs themselves.  Their addiction  and downward spiral is tragic, but it annoys me that they look to have been treated differently by the law in the past (and possibly now) because of their wealth. In 2008 Miss Rausing 'allegedly' tried to smuggle 'small amounts' of crack cocaine and heroin into the American embassy in London. Crack, heroin and (get this bit) 52 grams of cocaine were subsequently found in their home.  Now l may be an old cynic, and extremely class conscious, but the couple were given a caution, and charges dropped. Trust me, if that had been myself and the FPO, charges would not have been dropped, and l would be re-acquainted  with my old cellmate 'Bronco' in Durham nick.  Don't get me wrong, l think people should be able to do what they want as long as they don't harm anyone else, and if this couple wanted to stock up on drugs and destroy their lives, that is up to them.  What l hate is one law for the rich, and one for us poor old working class scumbags. Maybe if they had been prosecuted and made to attend drug rehabilitation courses they would both still be alive now, but possibly not, because it is difficult for most people to give up crack, as it is certainly moorish (and yes, l speak from past experience). I'm waiting now to see what he gets for the driving offences, but l'm not expecting much.
Photographs are from The Daily Mirror.

One other thing. Don't believe everything you read. According to The Daily Mirror site, the Rausing's lived in a £16m home. According to The Telegraph, it's a £70m  fortress. Everyone's got an agenda.

driver's paltry road rage fine

This motorist (Scott Lomas) tried to knock a cyclist (Martin Porter) off his bike, and admitted he was trying to kill him when confronted.  Luckily Porter caught it all on his helmet camera, and the driver has been taken to court and fined. But only fined £250, which to me, as a sometimes cyclist, is a load of crap. If he had actually hit Porter and sent him flying, there is a possibility he could have killed or seriously injured him. He would also be the sort of person who would drive like this on a regular basis, but because there is no evidence, gets away with it. Don't get me wrong, l have broken the law many times when l have been driving, and if caught, l expect to be harshly punished. £250 is bugger all, and acts as no deterrent to anybody. Bloody horses in the road get on my nerves, and it drives me mad having to slow down and be careful to pass them, but l haven't started beeping my car horn and driving into them (yet). If it will only cost me £250, l might re-consider my options. Saying that, the judge (or magistrate) probably does not like cyclists himself (I assume it's a man), but would punish me more for upsetting the horse riding community of (mainly) posh bastards that will be part of his social set. Purely a speculation you understand, and we may indeed find out more in the near future.

the dale farm riots and clearance

So, as anticipated, the police have gone into Dale Farm to evict the travellers who built on land without planning permission. Activists have become involved, there has been fighting, burning, tears and tasers (what a surprise). The thing is, l can understand that the land should not have been built on, therefore the travellers knew what they were doing, and by definition, they knew the risks, just the same as if l built another home in my back garden without planning permission. The council would be onto me, and l would probably have to have it demolished, although l would obviously still own the land. This is the same situation at Dale Farm, but it has been going in and out of court for the last 10 years, and, in the meantime, people have settled there (settled travellers? Definitely oxymoronic language by anyones standards). The land is old scrap land and the people are now settled (next to the legal travellers site). This now begs the question of where they all now going to live once evicted. Moving them is costing millions, and the land will still be unsightly and good for nothing once they have gone. This should have been sorted as soon as they started building, not 10 years down the line, and l am sure a lot of people working in the legal profession would have made shitloads of money out of this. Even though the travellers have broken the rules, after 10 years, evicting them serves no purpose and will just create more problems. The building rules may well be changed shortly, if the good Mr Cameron has anything to do with it, so let them stay. Next time another one of these situations looks like occuring, give the judges a kick up the backside and use some common sense to prevent building at an early stage. The travellers are at fault, but so is our legal system. Maybe we should send in the rozzers to sort out the judges, sitting there on their loathsome spotty behinds like poor people in church, procrastinating with their decisions while reaping the financial benefits and lording it over the great poor unwashed. Power to the people!!!
